Eating out with food allergies is really hard for me. But Food for Thought was AMAZING about it. First off, the waiters took me seriously when I said I had allergies, instead of just brushing it off, or saying something like "well, you can't even taste it" (happens a lot). Second, the chefs make everything--even the sauces--when you order, so they were able to create a sauce for me that I could actually eat. Third, the food was REALLY good. My allergies are challenging even for me to cook for, and I was really impressed that they could make such a great meal at the drop of a hat when they couldn't use their normal ingredients.
Honestly, restaurants scare me, in general. Most of them are just so careless when it comes to my allergies, which are literally life and death to me. This place didn't even give me ketchup without checking that it was safe. And the whole time, they kept telling me how it was absolutely no trouble, and not to worry, it wasn't a problem. It was so nice to feel like a normal diner, rather than the problem client. I'll absolutely...
Read moreAwful atmosphere, staff seem so on edge. I thought past the waiting at the door for a seat, it is a cafe for goodness sake not a high end restaurant. Food is awful. Ordered a toastie and chips and my mum ordered a tuna mayonnaise jacket potato. We asked for two glasses of water, which came warm. When the food arrived the jacket potato was so small and it hardly any filling. Been microwaved to death. It was like shoe leather. My mum ate it because she was hungry and we paid for it. My toastie was missing the cheese filing. Also my chips were forgotten about, apparently the waiter didn't write them down, although he repeated back what I had asked for. Once asked about them it, they said they just put them in. In which we cancelled, I didn't want my chips after my toastie I wanted them with. The toastie was dry and bland. It says to pay at your table but nobody was interested. So we got up and paid. My advice just avoid. Don't...
Read moreHad read good reviews so went for lunch. Eventhough they we were very busy we were seated quickly. Our lovely server came an I ordered the chicken special with sauté potatoes and veg. Hubby had the gourmet burger and asked for sauté potatoes as a different option which wasn't a problem . Not a long wait before our food arrived. Chicken was absolutely delicious....moist but with a slight caramelised touch.....sauce was gorgeous, potatoes were yummy and the fresh carrots were perfectly cooked. Portion size was very generous. Hubbies burger..Chicken, crispy bacon, brie, tomatoes, onions and a 'jam' topping. The staff were attentive and professional.....but were friendly. For the quality of the ingredients a reasonable tariff and well worth it. A thoroughly enjoyable lunch. Thanks to all. Ps. That Chicken special was a triumph. Wish I'd asked...
