Had a lovely breakfast with family here on Sunday, it was quiet and the staff were really accommodating with us ordering things that weren't strictly on the menu. Really fair prices, especially for the coffee which was so good!! We had a toddler with us and felt really welcomed. And it was nice and clean when we visited too. There are seasonal drinks and board games so I see potential for tipsy Scrabble in the future. A couple of years ago my boyfriend and I used to come here for dates which was always really nice.

Called in for an end of evening celebratory drink with the family - charged Ā£16+ for 5 x baby guinesses - was told it was the correct measure but presentation leaves you wanting more - was told they didn’t have the right glasses - suggest you don’t offer or at least make sure people are made aware before ordering. Manager didn’t seem too interested in offering a solution. Maybe best to avoid.

Very nice place to be Saturday afternoon or maybe when you like! We choose a quiet corner in a lovely afternoon! Enjoy the Albany view! Cosy atmosphere and lovely personnel! Internet for free! Pleasant! Look at t the delicious pea soup with coconut and turmeric! The black dots are Nigella a bit spicy and very healthy!

Staff are brilliant, but wow have Brains (now owned by Marstens) really let this place down. It's a shadow of its former self and has just been left to get run down by the big brewery. It's a real shame tbh. Furniture needs replacing - sofas are completely broken with collapsed arms (and have been for at least 6-7 years now), toilets are generally dirty and in need of desperate renovation.

Food, well, what can I say, it's pretty horrendous and priced as if it's some kind of gastro-pub to boot. Dry mash and burgers, £10 Nachos that don't even contain real cheese (just the awful squirty stuff). It's definitely no longer like any of the pictures posted on this page!

Awful thing is that it used to be decent, freshly cooked stuff (checkout aforementioned images), but all that changed with brains - now you just know that pretty much everything is pre-prepared rubbish.

Beer - what's on is pretty decent taste-wise but there's zero choice if you don't like Brains beer, again, the place used to have regular guest ales etc - but no more.

I just hope Marstens invest in the place and turn it around for the better....

Table service-drinks order taken and then came extremely quickly, menus given including kids menu for my toddler but then nobody took our order for almost an hour. Watched a family be seated, orders taken, served food and finished eating before we received any food. Toddler was pretty hangry by this point! Just wanted to leave. Then the food came. Chips and grilled chicken burger pallid, but hot and cooked and tasty. On my plate though, frozen mashed potato pellets not all the way thawed. Piece of plastic in my food, presumably from the pouch of gravy. While eating I wanted to complain but didn't want to get up and move around the pub due to restrictions, thought I'd wait to tell the server when they came to ask how our meal was. They never came around. Just paid and left before my kids dessert materialised.

So disappointing as the food and service in previous visits had been really good. There is lots of space and a board games selection to distract kids/enjoy with friends over a pint, and it is very clean with hygeine stations. But yeah....not a good...

Where to start.. Bear in mind this is one of my locals and I literally just left the place. The pub has loads of potential and it's in a good location. Unfortunately, it's run by incompetent people. The management has recently changed and I was hoping for some improvements and some changes in the menu or beer selection at least. I was wrong. They kept exactly the same boring selection of food and beers, and just put up the prices. The place is always understaffed (I just left and there were 10 people queuing and only one person behind the bar on a Friday evening). The toilets are dirty. The guys behind the bar are actually nice and they do their best given the circumstances. Clearly the problem here lies entirely with the management. I come to the PT as it's 30 seconds from my house and there is not much choice in the area, let's be honest. This is the only reason. Advice for the management: either quit or if you decide to take over a pub, try at least to make some changes and offer something new to your clients, as the place is screaming for it and laziness...
