My wife and I recently visited Cardiff for the first time, and after a busy day of exploring the city, we were eager to satisfy our craving for Indian cuisine. Based on numerous positive reviews, we decided to dine at Spice Village with high expectations last Sunday for a dinner.
Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the staff, who were very accommodating and promptly seated us. Unfortunately, our experience with the food was far from what we had hoped. We ordered keema paratha/naan, Rogan prawn, chicken biryani, and poppadoms. Although we were quite hungry and it was late at night, the quality of the food was disappointing.
The chicken biryani, which initially looked appetizing, turned out to be stale, dampening our spirits considerably. The Rogan prawn was just not good with taste. We spoke to the manager, who kindly offered to replace the biryani. However, given that one portion was stale, we were skeptical about the freshness of any replacement. He eventually provided freshly prepared plain rice, but this did little to salvage our overall dining experience.
While I appreciate the courteous behavior of the staff and their efforts to rectify the situation, the quality of the food was really not up to the mark. It’s crucial for a restaurant to maintain high standards and ensure that all dishes are fresh and of good quality. I hope Spice Village takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their food quality to meet the expectations set by their reviews....
Read moreWe recently dined at Spice Village, and I must say it left a lasting impression on our taste buds. The highlight of our meal was the Tikka Bhuna Chicken Curry, which was bursting with authentic flavors and spices. The chicken pieces were tender and the curry was rich and aromatic. This dish is a must try (note it is medium spicy).
The Chicken and Lamb Biryani was equally impressive, with perfectly cooked meat and a fragrant blend of spices. It was served with a delicious sauce that complimented the biryani perfectly.
We also had a paneer cooked with onions and chilies as a starter, and that dish will be definitely one we will order again.
Apart from the fantastic food, the restaurant's service was excellent. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, which enhanced the overall dining experience.
The atmosphere was pleasant, with well-thought-out decor that added to the restaurant's charm. It provided a warm and inviting setting for a memorable meal.
In fact, we enjoyed our dining experience so much that we've already visited the restaurant twice, and I'm looking forward to returning for more mouthwatering dishes. This Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant is a hidden gem, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic and delicious culinary...
Read moreSpice Village has been a pleasure to dine in. My first impressions was that I was greeted with genuine hospitality and care, creating a inviting atmosphere. One aspect that truly stood out was how accommodating the chefs were as since I'm not particularly adept with spicy foods, the chefs were able to accommodate my preferences to more milder spices.
Furthermore the staff's knowledge of the regional origins of the dishes was impressive, adding an extra layer of appreciation for the meal. They provided insightful background information about each dish, which enhanced the overall dining experience.
The dishes that I've ordered was the Lamb Shank paired with the fried rice. The flavours of the lamb shank with the fried rice complemented each other beautifully, from the tender, flavourful lamb shank paired with the aromatic fried rice creates a satisfying and comforting combination.
Overall, Spice Village stands out as one of the finest Indian restaurants in Cardiff. The attentive service and impeccable quality of the food make it a true gem in the local dining scene. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. 10/10,...
