Damas Sweets — Restaurant in Wales

We had a deeply unpleasant experience at this restaurant. I visited with my wife and our 6-month-old daughter, and we placed an order for 2kg of baklava. While the order was being prepared, my wife asked a staff member if there was a bathroom to change our baby’s diaper. The staff told her there was no space in the toilet and advised her to use one of the tables instead. While she was doing so, the manager came over and began shouting at us in a very aggressive and humiliating manner. We explained that we were simply following the staff’s instructions, but he accused us of lying, canceled our order, and told his staff not to serve us. We were then kicked out of the restaurant. This is a very nice Arabic cafe that can cater to different tastes. They have very affordable, good quality food items on the menu as well as delicious hot and cold drinks. The coffee, including Turkish coffee, is really good quality. The baklava and middle eastern sweets are some of the best in Cardiff. The staff are very friendly and nice. What sets them apart and could be their most distinguishing feature now is the famous Dubai Chocolate which is beautifully wrapped in a gold colour with their signature sticker which gives it a luxurious feel. Inconsistent pricing and you will be scammed depending on who is standing on the counter. We went for first time and a lovely lady served us we ordered baklava and paid £6.90 and when we went back a week later the man at the counter had charged us £11 something for the same amount of baklava and didn’t even weigh it, seems like he was talking in Arabic to someone else to ask how much to charge and they decided to make up a price that suited them at the time. We didn’t question it at the time as we were a bit confused but checked later when we got home. Very disappointed with the inconsistency and won’t be coming back.
