Today I visited Ostro for first time and it was more than clear from begging that Ostro got massively inspired by Nando's, which is not necessarily negative factor.
When I walked in I was greeted by smiley, welcoming female staff who showed me my table and politely explained how Ostro "works" (same like in Nando's ) After looking into simplified menu I placed my order, First shock came when member of staff told me that payments by card are not possible (I thought we are living in 21st century:) After I placed my order I grabbed sauces, cutlery and napkins and went to sit down and waited for my meal. I did enjoyed the restaurant environment. It was fresh, clean and neat with decent music - all good here.
My meal came in less than 10 minutes (it was fairly quiet). Unfortunately the food is the biggest issue for me. 1/2 chicken didn't come from 1 piece of chicken as the leg part was succulent and the breast dry, hard and shouldn't be served. Also as a part of the 1/4 breast side I have received grilled chicken breast fillet which I didn't ask for but it seems that chef wanted to make it look bigger than it was. Sadly, the breast fillet was rock hard and dry as well. Chips were nice and crispy. What was absolutely horrendous was the sauces. I have tasted all flavours and they ALL TASTE SAME :O Quite disgusting taste with no proper texture and lacking of soury flavours which is essential in peri peri. The sauces put me off completely so I didn't even want to finish my dry chicken breast. For all that I have paid £7.5 (After I discovered that it was with 30% discount due to ramadan so this meal would reach £10 on normal circumstances which is same as expensive as Nando's)
After I finished my meal I have spotted 4 members of staff chatting by the till area with no sign of interest to ask me how was it or try to up-sell any desserts etc. Also I haven't seen anybody in charge in this restaurant so I have no idea where the manager/supervisor was. I visited toilet which was clean and tidy. On my leave I received farewell from most of the staff.
Overall I'm dissapointed by that fact that Ostro is not bringing anything new into the game. Same environment, music, soft drink machine, crockery etc...etc... Quite bad food with disgusting sauces for same prices as in Nando's. Guys I believe that you have still long way to go to create stable customer flow. Read moreCustomer service has improved a lot better. But there is a room to work more on the food. Dine in experience was much better than deliveries. They don’t give any sauces like mayo or ketchup for the fries during delivery. However they offer it for dine ins. Don’t understand how they expect us to eat the fries so blunt. Ordered peri peri chips twice along with my food and got plain fries. Third time had to call them and request them to make sure they send the correct item.

I took my family for a dinner and extremely disappointed by the service received. Customer service was pathetic. Advertised as 40% of the entire menu and discount was applied only on selective items on the menu. Hence had to change the food we wanted to order. Food was served an hour later since we placed the order. Food quality and taste was not Upto the expectations and potions were also less. Missed out items for the table which we had to go and ask twice after which one by one was delivered. By the time one finished our food the other item came. Completely...

We had mains being delivered before our starters and our drinks coming after we consumed all our food, and dont get me started on the waiters giving our food to the wrong table, after they realised what they done they brought the food to us and by this time my family were horrified. We noticed that kids on the other table were poking our food before the waiter bought the food to the correct table (which was ours) and they didnt even care. We were made to sit down anywhere and they didnt at all communicate with us. For example: they didnt tell us we had to get our own plates and our own cups. In fact, we just sat on our table looking like complete lemons. I was even more shocked when i asked the waiters for the managers number and they refused to give to us. i even heard one women say 'dont give it to them', but after this experience i made sure got the managers number.
