Writing on behalf of myself and the wife, would love to be able to give the place 5 stars however there are a few areas that require improvement. We visited a few times on our holiday.
Firstly, the food was splendid - absolutely no complaints in regard to wait time and quality. However, we take issue with the customer service skills of some staff members. In particular, our breakfast visitation. The older lady on the counter is whom we assume previous reviews have been about, as we very much felt we were treated differently on the premise of we are not Welsh nor Welsh-speaking; in comparison to customers in the vicinity that were. That was made abundantly clear and it was not a very welcoming atmosphere, the lady is very aggressive in her approach/way of speaking. Furthermore, the other woman present was very zombie-like. We decided to not re-visit for breakfast.
However, the two occasions we visited for evening meals were vastly different. Ann behind the bar is very friendly and pleasant, always seemed open to conversation. The young lady, I believe her name was either Chloe or Rosie was lovely and very accommodating greeting us with a smile both times. Osian (apologies if spelt incorrectly), despite seeming more on the anxious side was also very accommodating and hard-working.
Would visit again, dependant on what time of day it is. Which is a shame as the breakfast meals...
Read moreWe came to Spooners on Tues 2/7/24 . When we entered the car park at 11.30 we explained to the car park attendant we were going for a meal at Spooners and asked if it was ok to park which he said yes . Our friends arrived about 12 and we had a very nice meal , helped by nice staff at reasonable prices . So , why you might ask have I only given you 1 star . That is because of the horrendous attitude of the car park attendant when we were leaving . We left the restaurant about 2.00 and escorted our elderly friends around the corner to make sure there lift was there . We got back to the car and he quite rudely told me we shouldn't of gone around the corner and that we wouldn't be allowed back into the car park ever again !!! If he want so pathetic it would have been funny ! I told him with an attitude like his I wouldn't return and his reply was good !! You need to know we visit the area regularly thru work and would have vote back to Spooners and were also talking about doing some of the train trips - now not a chance . Oh and I have to add the car park was much emptier than when we first arrived . HE SHOULD BE NO WHERE NEAR THE PUBLIC !!!!! This will be shared...
Read moreStopped by last night. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Good selection of drinks. We had lasagne as we did not want chips. The waitress bought out the food and the bowls were really hot which is a bit of a red flag to say it has been microwaved. It had been microwaved to death with a large burnt hard lump in the centre of the dish with the rest just a rubbery burnt stodge around this black lump. We ate what we could but my wife left over half and l left about a third. When the girl collected the bowls we told her about the poor meals . She apologised and said she would tell the chef. We felt it was just a poor meal so decided to have a dessert, we had bread and butter pudding with custard The desserts came in hot bowls again and yes they had been microwaved, not to death but just a rubbery and lumpy mesh. It was hard work trying to eat it with a spoon as we really needed a knife and fork. We should of left it but as we had paid over £30 for our 2 courses and were still hungry. We will probably call in again for a drink but will not be...
