Went on Monday evening with a friend and our two dogs.
Arrived approximately 18:30.
We were the only two customers in the venue.
Plan was to have a few drinks and food.
Ordered food, I chose the pie and drink deal but no steak pies - no substitute offered unfortunately.
Food order was
1 x lasagna with chips 1 x "ultimate" Southern fried burger
Both meals whilst passable had no check back from a member of the team to make sure we were happy.
After waiting 15-20 minutes after finishing our meals, we cleared our own plates as the bar tender, despite no other customers had not noticed our meals finished.
Ordered dessert
2 x jam sponge with custard
Waited a further 15 or so minutes before being told no custard on site - surely in a Marston's chain there is some info on the til about our of stock items or at least Comms from the kitchen... apparently not.
The pudding effort was probably microwaved as hard and crusty on top, bit wet in the middle.
No offer of water at any point in a dog friendly bar.
Sadly this was not worth the £45 total that was spent.
Even from a chain where staff are generally anonymous I expected better and a bit more pride in the experience they, I assume were intending to offer - especially in a competitive market on a quiet Monday.
Based on the time we were there, we were probably the most, if not only money they'd taken.
Won't be rushing back - a shame as I previously used my expenses at the venue.
For dog friendly venues serving food, I'll be going to Jam Jar, Jack Murphy's,...

The service was top-notch; the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The atmosphere? Absolutely lit – a perfect blend of cosy and vibrant, making it an ideal spot to chill with friends or enjoy a night out.
Prices were more than reasonable for the quality you get – let’s be real, you can’t expect Primark prices at a Gucci-level experience, and this place definitely delivers premium quality. They even had some great cocktail offers going on, which made it even better. Shoutout to the bartender – such a cool and friendly guy who really knew his craft. The boss was also around and took time to chat with us, which made the experience feel even more personal and welcoming.
Overall, an unforgettable spot. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a proper pub experience with great vibes, amazing food and drinks, and genuinely lovely people...
