Absolutely outstanding I can't recommend this awesome place enough, my daughter and now husband had booked their wedding at short notice Sophy offered us a private room upstairs which was decorated beautifully and made it all the more personal. Sophy and team were amazing made everything run like clock work we were also provided with a bluetooth speaker so could play our own choice of music in the background, our compliments to the Chef as the food was Absolutely delicious to top it all off we arrived extremely early due to the poor weather and couldn't take many photos at the venue we were still welcomed and we're able to take photos around the fireplace which made the day here even more special Huge thanks again to Sophy and team Cath and gang x

Honestly could not recommend the cricketers enough. We enquired with the cricketers to hold a family meal after our registry office wedding and it could not have gone better. Sophy and her team are so personable and really did everything they could to make the day really special. I’m so thankful to them all for going above and beyond not just for hosting us but for every extra detail included. The room looked perfect when we got there and the food was superb - to the point that all family members want to book in again. I can’t thank so Sophy and the team enough for being so laid back and and taking care of everything. It couldn’t have gone any better. It’s always been our favourite pub but now it holds a place in our hearts forever.

Booked a table for 7pm expecting it to be very busy due to its reputation , but it was very quiet with only a few gentlemen in following the close of play at cricket. However this didnt detract from the great service, good beer and wonderful food we received. The staff were smart and attentive. On the bar were a selection of Evan Evans beers, all good quality. The food was beautifully cooked and nicely presented. The pastry on my beetroot, onion and goats cheese tart was amazingly light and crispy. Great pub, good beer, magnificent food

I recently had the displeasure of visiting The Cricketers pub in Cardiff, and I must say, it was an extremely disappointing experience. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by the obnoxious presence of the landlord, who seemed more interested in his own ego than in providing a pleasant atmosphere for customers.

To make matters worse, the beer served at this establishment was truly abysmal. I tried a few different options in hopes of finding something decent, but each one tasted flat, stale, and lacking any sort of flavor. The pub clearly has no standards when it comes to the quality of their beers, and it left me questioning their commitment to providing a positive drinking experience.

On top of the terrible beer, the overall ambiance of The Cricketers was lackluster. The decor looked tired and neglected, and it seemed as though no effort was made to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. It felt more like a run-down dive rather than a welcoming pub.

Furthermore, the service was slow and unprofessional. The staff appeared disinterested and provided minimal attention to customers. It's evident that the lack of enthusiasm and care shown by the landlord has trickled down to the rest of the staff, resulting in an overall lack of customer service.

Overall, I would strongly advise against visiting The Cricketers pub. With an obnoxious landlord who clearly prioritizes his own ego over customer satisfaction, coupled with the dismal quality of their beer, it was an experience that left me feeling disappointed and regretful. Save your time and money by seeking out other pubs in the area that actually value their customers and take pride in serving...

I would not recommend as the staff are rude and it seems to serve a local client base and visitors are subject to a lesser service and indeed a hostile reception. The food over priced and standard and i did eat there several times to determine if the staff attitude might improve and perhaps they may be less hostile overall, sadly each times worst than before once they learn you are not local. I also add beware anti climb paint or some sort of tar on outside benches as my top was destroyed with sloppy dirty benches. I would say check reviews and likely a majority from local people who receive a different service and i find this distasteful as equality should always be the ethos. They seem to have a primitive general view and approach to visitors who do not stem from Wales. I suppose for some a plus may be they allow pets in the restaurant as i noted locals brought along their dogs when drinking and dining. Once again you will see reviews are mostly local hotel owners or local guides so once again not an objective review as this is a small pocket community serving locals as they say for many many years so do not expect a friendly welcome if not a local, and they will charge you more and and make a nonsense excuse as out of season is more expensive, only to visitors though. I would avoid and look closer to town where restaurants are more progressive and some chains that do not have local closed...

I don’t usually write reviews but felt this needed to be said. We arrived at 15:20 and as we ordered drinks asked if they were still serving food, we were told yes they are and handed menus. After 5 minutes of deliberation we returned to the bar to order two sandwiches. We were then told that the kitchen is closed as the chef had gone on his break and food isn’t available. Quite frustrating that we weren’t told this would be the case five minutes ago when we arrived. We then noticed that the chef was sat outside in the smoking area , vaping, alongside us. He proceeded to do this, whilst chatting to the bar staff who was also outside vaping, for over an hour. The place was quiet, we were the only customers wanting to order food, they could have served us food then gone on break, it wasn’t as if they needed a break from the busy afternoon rush. We then tried to order again at the time they’d told us the break would be over. Only to be told the chef was still on his break… he shortly returned to the smokers area to continue. Such a nice pub but this was a shocking show of customer service and care for any customer at all! Will not...
