Stayed for one (Saturday) night while on a hill navigation course locally. No water, then no hot water, in my and apparently everyone's rooms - the pub had to close because of this. There were only 6 hotel rooms, yet the manager/staff in charge couldn't let us all know that this was going on, literally just after we checked in. When reported to them, staff response was "it's not our fault" and "we have a call out to get it fixed" - nothing about apology to guests, offer of refund/compensation. So we couldn't eat at the hotel/pub as planned either - and because the very large pub had suddenly closed, the curry house and chip shop nearby were completely rammed with people. I also couldn't shut the window in my bedroom, as the catch was broken and there was a plastic tab attached to stop it opening too far which also stopped it closing without the catch working. So pretty chilly. Another female friend was put in a room that was an annex on its own in a courtyard, not attached to the hotel at all - and there seemed little comprehension that this might not feel safe. Next morning, we asked for complimentary breakfast after not having water the night before - this wasn't offered but the bar staff agreed. The cooked breakfasts were all barely warm, which was pretty gross but we'd given up asking/expecting good customer service at this point so we ate and left. Would not recommend this place at all. Find somewhere else to stay if you're in the area. Also, as a final element of thoughtlessness in the place - there were framed pictures in the hotel rooms, which were drawings from local school children - a very sweet connection to the locality, except they had the full names and school locations written under the pictures. Clearly no-one has heard of safeguarding here...

The venue looks clean and well laid out. It is a big pub with plenty of seating. Hand sanitiser stations are dotted around a number of locations. Although I think orders can now be taken at the bar, there are signs requesting that orders are made via the App which I did. The App is easy to use and went through without any issues. The drinks did arrive quite a while after the food and only when prompted by us trying to collect them from the end of the bar ourselves. The kids were happy with their Lemon and herb chicken, my father with his ham, egg and chips but my wife and I a bit disappointed with out 5 bean chilli. All obviously packet/microwave heated which we knew would be the case but my rice had the flavouring powder dispersed in it in large lumps. The cost of the food and drink was low but in some cases you can see why. There were plenty of types of lager and ale on offer and my wife had limitless coffee, obtained from a self service machine next to the bar. The toilets were clean and in good order, the taps and hand dryers being activated by sensor (touchless). Only guide dogs were allowed on the premises and there was a large outdoor seating area. Just going for drinks would be great as they are very reasonably priced and there are lots to choose from but it wouldn't be my first choice to go for dinner by some margin.

Fantastic place to start the day and end the day . Weatherspoon's hotels are easy to book, easy to find, and apart from who's cooking from morning to night, says if the breakfast is going to be hot or just warm . The rooms are starting to look a bit tired. However, very clean . The long stay carparks are only a few minutes walk away and if you walk down after 6pm and pay £4 it gives you a ticket for the next 24hrs also the ticket can be used at all council carparks that day so no going down to pay at 8am. The George is a large pub that needs a good clean the chair cloth is so dirty. The staff are very friendly and helpful and as always a credit to the Weatherspoon's chain. I would definitely recommend this place to stay .

We always choose wetherspoons as we normally enjoy our food & drink but we were very disappointed with this particular one! We visited on Thursday 26th June & I've never seen such a dirty looking wetherspoons in my life, we walked round & round trying to find a table to sit at & although there were quite a few empty ones they were ALL full of dirty dishes & glasses & the floor had food all over it by most of the tables, now I understand that places are short staffed (I work in retail) but I've honestly never seen so many dirty tables in any wetherspoons I've been in & I was actually shocked at how bad it was, we decided to sit outside as it actually looked nice & clean & there were lots of available places to sit. We ordered fish & chips & a drink & commented to each other that we would probably wait a while due to how busy the place looked with the dirty tables etc but within 3-4 mins our food was with us, we both thought it was incredibly quick! However the food was so cold we had to send it back, the Young lad that served us was very polite & said not to worry about it as we both said we don't like to complain but he was understanding & said he would take them back. After about 4-5 minutes he was back with the same plates of food that he said had "been put back under the hotplate for us so should be ok now", the chips were a little warmer when we felt them so we said thank you & off he went, we then tried our fish & it was luke warm, our peas However were stone cold! We didn't say anything & ate it as quick as we could but we definitely didn't enjoy it one bit as we like our food to be warm. We ate most of it as were rather hungry but had to leave some as was too cold towards the end to eat it! We decided to order another drink each so did this on the app. It said wait time 1-2 minutes, after 10 minutes no drink so I said to my hubby they must be busy I will go inside & see, no word of a lie it was dead, one girl filling glasses up who didn't see me at all, then another girl walked past & asked if I was OK, I said about how long we had waited for drinks & she was shocked & said she didn't see why as they were quiet & she had just been out for a cigarette & there were no drinks there when she went outside, anyway she walks to the end of the bar & there were our drinks just sat there, she apologised & gave me the drinks. I was just amazed at how bad the running of the place was, we were there around an hour & when we left we walked back through the pub & couldn't see that any of the tables had been cleared or cleaned up in anyway, it's definitely not what paying customers should have to see as it was incredibly off putting! If it wasn't for the outside bit we would of gone...

Shouldn't even get 1 star absolute shambles, management well if you can call them mangers haven't a clue and cannot deal with disatisfied customers.

Asked for a simple order tonight fish and chips, a margarita with extra tomato sauce on the the pizza base. I explained myself to 3 different people one of those being the manager. We waited around 20 mins and then I was asked by one of the waiting staff was it extra tomato sauce I wanted as the kitchen staff had added bbq sauce and fresh tomatoes on the Pizza. I laughed it off and said no extra tomato sauce as per the conversation I had with 3 members of staff that including the kitchen. Still waiting over 20 mins I asked the manager if the fish & chips that was sat there for over 15 mins was my husband, he said yes and brought it to our table. I said are you real that's been standing on the counter I want fresh along with the Pizza and bowl of chips I was still waiting on. I told the manager we wanted freshly cooked fish and chips and where was my pizza, the manager took the fish and chips and brought my pizza with no chips. Again I asked was he serious myself and husband came out to eat together. The manager snatched the Pizza and went in to the kitchen, by this time an hour gone by and enough was enough I asked for a refund. A poor excuses was given '' the cook was new'', should he be let loose on the customers if he can't get a simple request right. Anyhow asked for a full refund as the service was appauling and was no longer waiting for food that was order over an hour ago, as I work with regulators and consumers rights I gave some sage advice that management needs to step up and put a stop to such poor service. I did state that the staff must be idiots if they can't deal with such a simple request, the manager tried to justify it by saying his staff are not idiots ( really)??

I asked for the area mangers email and the manager gave me the generic email that we all know don't get any results . I finally got the area managers name that I will look up and try and find an email, if the area manager is not interested in hearing how bad his team are performing then there's something wrong. As I stated to tonight's manager the staff are only as good as...
