Two local customers at my local pub The Ancient Briton recommended this place to go for food and beverages in Brecon. I've been coming here since the Summer to try out their tapas selections on their menu along with side orders including the craft beers they have there on cask. I must say in all the restaurants and bars I've been to for food and drink in Brecon this has got to be go for a meal in the town. The service there was fantastic from all of the floor staff that served me including the people who I've been there with for food and drink. If you're looking for the perfect place to go for food, craft beers, gin including fine wines look no further this is the place you'll 💯 need to go to for food and drink the waiting staff there are very friendly, polite and helpful. But at the same time take it in their own strides to recommend the perfect beverages to accompany your meals etc certainly service with a smile from me throughout in all the times I've been to The Hop In Gin & Beer.

I would just like to take this opportunity to wish all the floor staff, kitchen staff and management team there a very Merry Christmas 🤶 and a Happy and prosperous New Year for the year 2023 and I shall look forward to...

Definitely worth a visit. This tiny little place offers tapas and at lunchtime panini's or more traditional British dishes e.g. ham egg and chips or fish and chips. Tapas; 3 max for one person is plenty and delicious. Have eaten here a couple of times over the past month or so and highly recommend. Book a table if you can as it is small, but perfectly formed. The food has been brilliant, fresh, flavoursome and good portion sizes. I found out during todays visit that much of the produce is locally sourced, even better. Service; friendly and also lovely. Ambience; lush. Was spending time today and in my previous visit with a couple of close friends and we wanted a quiet chat, the upstairs quiet table by the window was perfect. Posted some pics earlier for others to see the pricing and the food images, well worth every penny in my view. Parking just around the corner makes this a very convenient option for those visiting friends for lunch in Brecon. In short, give this place a go, not been disappointed in my few visits and deserving of a...

oh dear, im afraid we werent as impressed as we had expected, or hoped, to be. five of us went for a celebratory evening, hoping for tapas and gin. the gin menu was indeed impresssive and I wish we had left it at that. the problem with the tapas was that we were asked to order it all in advance, the day before, then, worse still, the whole lot came out at once, in one go. all fourteen dishes jammed onto the table together, in one wave. you could hardly work out or remember what was what, inevitably the hot dishes got cold, and it all felt more like ready-steady-gobble than a relaxed saunter through a selection of dishes. the whole point of tapas is to graze - drink a little, eat a little, order another drink and another tapas. not cram it all down in one hit. some of the food was quite good, especially the baked camembert, - the calamari we felt had far to much batter/squid ratio, but over all it was nice. would just have been so much better...

This is a tiny little restaurant and bar serving craft ales, botanical gins and tapas style food. If gin is your thing there are so many to choose from and beautifully presented. The ales cover all tastes, some with a powerful kick so served by the third! The food in the evening is Tapas size plates. Again a wide choice to suit all tastes. We sat upstairs in what would have been a bedroom in this tiny house. We ordered effectively a first course selection and then a second course. All arrived promptly, hot and appealing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Remember it is very popular and booking essential in the evening.

Had an amazing Sunday lunch here. Booked because of good reviews and was not disappointed. The service was incredible - so friendly and relaxed. The food was great too with all the trimmings for a lovely Sunday lunch. The cauliflower cheese in particular was amazing. My only comment, as a veggie, would be that they should choose a different veggie option instead of a veggie burger in breadcrumbs....maybe a nut roast or nut cutlet? Other than that, a stunning lunch in a small but perfectly formed venue!

Yep. Go here. Stop searching for other places and hop in to the Hop In. Absolutely incredible service and great tapas to match. We had the beef, the whitebait, cod goujons, and baked brie. Each absolutely perfect. Some of the best peppercorn sauce I've ever had and both the fish dishes were perfect. Didn't sample any of the alcohol as we were driving, but to say the offering looked vast would be an understatement! We'll definitely aim to visit again!
