My husband and I stayed at the Borderers and had the loveliest time throughout, despite the slightly damp weather in Brecon that weekend. The B&B owners Gail and Kevin are extremely kind and considerate hosts and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Their gorgeous rescue dog Trixie is also utterly adorable and so well behaved.
The entire B&B property is extremely clean and marvellously characterful - there is something interesting to see in every corner, and, despite its age is very well maintained. We were given a large triple room with a super king bed and very comfortable pillows, we slept like logs both nights we were there. The bathroom too is spacious and the water pressure in the modern shower is fantastic, a real treat in the chilly mornings. The room itself is very tastefully decorated with some unique pieces, including antique chairs and paintings, and the bathroom too has some lovely, quirky pieces (fresh towels placed in a stone bowl, for example!). The toiletries provided were very handy, as was the information folder in the room with essential information and very useful local tips.
The icing on the cake was the Welsh breakfast that Gail cooked for us on both days, which was truly delicious, and the high quality of the produce used was apparent, especially the bacon and sausages. All in all, we had an absolutely wonderful stay and will definitely return in the future - I highly recommend the Borderers, not only for its excellent location (near all the shops and cafes) and rooms, but also for Gail, Kevin, and Trixie! This was truly a...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived at Borderers Inn in Brecon, Gail, our host, made our stay exceptionally welcoming. She was not only attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about the area, which added a personal touch to our experience.
Gail graciously offered us a complimentary upgrade to a larger room upon our arrival. The room itself was a delight, boasting a very comfortable bed and well-functioning facilities, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.
Breakfast at Borderers Inn was a daily highlight. Gail and Kevin prepared a full English breakfast that could be customised to our liking, ensuring each meal was to our taste. Additionally, she offered pancakes, cereals, fruits, and a selection of teas and coffees, catering to all palates.
The location of the guesthouse is another great advantage. It's perfectly positioned for easy access to the centre of Brecon and close to Pen Y Fan for those looking to explore the natural beauty of the area.
While the on-site parking is a bit snug—best suited for smaller vehicles—it's a minor consideration given the overall excellence of our stay.
Gail's dedication to ensuring that we felt at home was evident throughout our visit. Nothing was too much trouble for her. We highly recommend Borderers Inn to anyone visiting Brecon, and we hope to return one...
Read moreWow, what a hidden gem. Gail, the owner, is truly meant for the role she is in. She was so warm and inviting after a long day of traveling to Brecon. The room was large, had all the amenities we could wish for, a comfy bed, different teas to choose from and historic charm. Gail helped us before our trip to figure out plans around the national park and while we were there she pointed us towards great food and sites to see. She spoiled us every morning with a delicious breakfast that was truly made with love. She also makes her own bread every day, it was incredible. The location is great, we were able to walk everywhere around town from the Inn. I can't stop telling everyone about what a wonderful stay we had.
I know it sounds like I'm exaggerating but I'm not. Gail is just one of those warm souls who is a natural and joyful host, You can tell she truly loves what she does- the Inn itself and the experience there shows it. I've traveled all around the world and this is up there as one of my best Inn experiences. I can't wait to come back here...
