A well-designed and attractive conversion from shire hall courts to museum and art gallery. Welcoming staff.
Collection is eclectic. There was enough to see to keep me in their for over an hour. The county museum is very compartmentalised as you jump from prehistoric pots to Hay-on-Wye workhouse.
So much here to be praised. My only complaint is the lack of captions for many of the objects on display - for example, there's a huge medieval wooden door as you enter the county museum section but nothing tells you where it is from.

The Children’s section seems to be squeezed into the corner with no real thought to events and there is no plan for the building so everyone is lost and can’t get from the library to the gallery or museum without asking anyone for help.
