I had just travelled 400 miles by bike and was early for my boat and it was late and everywhere was closed ,I noticed a bar close by and decided this will do , I entered and thought this is a local bar for local people. Nope I was totally wrong , this bar with these people you cannot buy this type of friendship,I was made welcome and chatted to as I was a regular, I was also offered cutlery when I enquired about food , yes go and buy some food bring it back and you're welcome to eat here . Read moreAbsolut kip. While travelling with my mother who was on crutches to visit a terminally ill family member. We where an hour early for our ferry.
So we went here for a quick pint while waiting for the ferry. And was barely in the door. And this absolut degenerat started hurling sectarian abuse. Stating that us Irish should never be trusted. Etc etc. And generally being very aggressive.
All this happened beside the woman I found out was the landlady. So when this man stated that there was a bar across the bridge that "our lot" go. and asking why we came in here? So me and my mother left. Only to be followed out.

No Guinness, no ale (they initially had a very acceptable ale as a substitute for Guinness, but they ran out of that too!) The lager was acceptable, but was not the beer of my first or second choice. All of the staff were faultless and deserve a big thank you for making a bland visit a lot more than that.
