Oh My. I'd like to preface this by saying amazing food, truly outstanding. A. Lovely aesthetic with well trained staff that were so insanely let down by leadership it led to what must be my most UNCOMFORTABLE experience eating.
If you want to know why feel free to read on but I'm mostly writing this for the staff. I also add and mention again, this is not directly at the staff serving but the management. The servers we dealt with handled the situation we'll.and we felt.awful for how on the spot they were.
Firstly we booked our table in MARCH so the fact had to wait from 7:30 (our booking) till 9! To be seated is nuts.
During this waiting period we were served another tables drink. Clearly a lack of comms among servers.
Next food service was slow just slow nothing more but when we had our mans and the most expensive meal was missing it's sides that's just unacceptable; the server did admit it was her fault but the chefs should relaise.
The next strike was the coffee machine not working unfortunately so that's a shame
But the final moment was being told at the end of the meal (rather than at the start) the card machine was broken. This set off a few members of my table and it was uncomfortable for all parties, management came too late to sort it and it was disjointed as some of the table had left to get the cash and missed the explanations as a result. We were compensated drinks but had a massive affect on the night
Now we felt so sorry for the staff we felt the young server we had with the night handled it very well but the leadership and management shouldn't have put her in that place. It's mostly a shame as we were a table that came from a catering background and we're mostly able to laugh off some of the problems but the cash only policy without warning made for a heated and uncomfortable moment that should have been easily avoided.
Not to say to skip but I was disappointed by the experience given the foods outstanding quality I truly hope leadership takes note of these problems as I can't imagine we are the only table that felt this way. I will be back for...
Read moreI visited this famous restaurant this August while on my holiday in lovely Saundersfoot. I have mixed impressions !! Rather unpleasant one !! I saw in videos on YouTube in the past that saying there were good selections of vegetarian/ vegan dishes . But,nothing was stated as vegetarian, or vegan on their menu !! Lol. I am a long time vegetarian. I was dropped off infront of this restaurant by a taxi driver from my accomodation. It was not my choice.( I wanted to go to the harbwr .)But,since I was right there & hungry ,decided to try it ! 1st ,the server was very nice .Then my pasta dish arrived & it was very delicious, but SUPER SPICY !! If this was years ago ,I couldn't had been able to finish it !! Haha. I have built-up the tolerance over decades of living in L.A.as we eat Mexican foods a lot here !! Lol.Then, when I was about to pay ,I wanted to give a good tip regardless despite that's NOT a CUSTOM there in Wales ,or England, U.k.,but it was not on menu ( they should had have vegetarian & vegan dishes ,it's 21st century & vegans are going strong !! Lol.) & I have the habit of tipping well !! So,I told I WANTED to give him 15% ,he answered if I could had given him MORE !!! Lol The amount he asked for was more than 20% !!!! So,I told him that was more than 20% ,or what I should had given him !! His attitude changed after that !! He was very unhappy ! I'll never go back there again !! Lol. I am already planning to go back to Wales with my mom ,Saundersfoot is definitely included !!! But ,this place isn't !! Shame !! As it's located at a very good spot & the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice ,though the staff weren't much friendly .They have a good reputation & the customers there were very nice enjoying their meals ! I had a very good conversations with them there !! And it's very convenient as right next to Tesco Express which I frequented while staying in Saundersfoot. Hoping they'll improve their menu...
Read moreOn holiday for my 30th and eat here yesterday. Ordered calamari for my starter which I'd normally demolish anywhere else. I eat maybe two pieces at a push and the grease was making me feel sick. Both mine and my partners starters were very oily. We both left 80% of our starters and not one staff member thought to question why. Mains were even more disappointing to be honest. I ordered a seafood pasta and it turned out to be one of the weirdest combinations of taste I've ever had and completely not what I expected. I can only describe it as a mild curry meets a Italian pasta containing dry overcooked fish. Again 80-90% of my food was pushed to thr side as I made the most of my pint of beer. My partner had a salmon and again she forced herself to eat maybe 50% just to be polite. Considering we were in and out in maybe a hour and we left so much food and declined a desserts menu, I find it odd no one questioned us. I've worked in a restaurant/pub environment myself and I know if those plates came back to our kitchen the chefs would wonder why. I guess it's take money off holiday makers and care very little about satisfaction. Also we'd normally tip around £10 when we eat for two but we literally paid to penny and no more, which we've never done before. The add in the window for staff and the fact half of the team looked like 16 year olds is probably a reflection of the quality. My 2 star...
