Let's start with the one positive: the pizza. Some may say it's burnt, too thin, and so on, but those people likely don't understand Italian pizza. If you were to visit Italy, this is quite close to what you'd receive ... an authentic, wood-fired pizza. If that's not your preference, I suggest you head to Domino's down the road for an American style pizza, as it seems you value quantity over quality.
Now, onto the negatives. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience was disappointing. While I understand we visited during a peak time due to the Ironman 2024 event, the restaurant should have anticipated this and been better prepared. The service was extremely poor.
We waited over 15 minutes just to place our order. It then took another 10 minutes for drinks, despite them being simple canned and bottles drinks and an additional 10 minutes for our food to arrive. The staff appeared disorganized and lacked direction. On top of that, the restaurant was very noisy, which made the experience even less enjoyable. It would be nice if they focused more on serving their customers efficiently.
What frustrated me the most was that I had called over two weeks prior to request a reservation but was told they were not accepting any due to the Ironman event. Yet today, I noticed a reserved table in the restaurant.
I would recommend this place, but only if you can overlook the noise and...
Read moreFirst things first, these are brilliant pizzas, really great. The staff are lovely and the place itself is really welcoming, but where this place is knocking the socks off almost EVERY other place in Tenby is their ability to deal with allergies. Yes, lots of places in Tenby say they can do gluten free, but my friend's allergy is serious, so we always phone in advance to find out exactly what places mean by 'gluten free'. Every place we spoke to was just a bit too relaxed about the whole thing ('I'm sure we can do something', 'come on in and we'll see what we can do' sort of thing) which usually ends up with my friend eating a plain salad or having a serious allergic reaction. Top Joe's were - quite frankly - the only place out of about 20 we spoke to that really left me with the confidence that we could eat there. We were right, the food - both gluten free and non GF was lovely and not one hint of a reaction from my friend. If you have food allergies, eat here. In fact, even if you don't have food allergies, eat...
Read moreThe reviews looked good here so when we visited a few weeks ago we thought we would try. First thing to note was the service was shocking - the waitress quickly asked our drinks order and if we were ready to order food, we asked for a few more minutes to then spend over 20 minutes trying to catch the attention of one of the waitresses.. it was as if we were invisible, extremely frustrating watching other tables being served when they arrived after you. It was clear a few tables who were seated before us had been waiting around for their orders to be taken too. Finally got our food, mediocre pizza - the base was not crisp and so the topping slid off when picked up. No one checked if food was okay and we were not able to get more drinks ordered during the meal. Even had to chase to get the bill, definitely would not recommend and don't intend to visit again after when the cost of the food does not reflect...
