This is the first review I have ever written.
We went to this restaurant hoping for a good meal. It didn't take long to work out it was rubbish.
2 out of 9 popadoms were hard (they said 1 was on the house) but on the plus side, the sauces were superb.
When my son's starter arrived (mixed kebab), there was no heat at all, just like eating a standard chicken kebab from my local burger/kebab takeaway. They told me that it was like that because he was a child.
I said that I wanted my main hotter than my son's as I had asked to Tandoori mixed grill. When it arrived, it blew my head off. As I figured that they had misunderstood what I had asked, I told them that I wanted it to be their normal heat.
To there credit, they gave me another, only to find that, whilst it looked and tasted OK, there was no heat again!
I have been to India many times, and had Indian food - I know that restaurants sell food made for Brits, but this blandness has gone too far.
My wife and son's chicken korma was just as bad (my son refused eat it).
For my experience, 2 children and 2 adults with a popadoms, starter and main and a drink each (1 beer) - £67 (after they knocked off £7 when my wife refused to pay for my son's dish).
The manager said that he has not had complaints and has been running for 30 years - well he obviously has not looked on Google and I guess he relies or the tourist trade.
If you are looking for a good authentic British Indian meal, go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was okay. Our problem was with the front of house service. After my wife ordered apple juice, we were trying to figure out what the dark green substance was around the rim of the glass. Was it pepper? Celery salt? Matcha? Nope it was mouldš¤¢. Once we pointed this out to the extremely helpful and apologetic waiter (sarcasm he was neither of these), he kindly took it away, emptied the glass and refilled the same glass with more apple juice - without washing the glass!š¤¢š¤¢ So she returned it again! The waiter seemed rather annoyed by our complaining so he took apple juice off the menu and told us to order something else. We considered walking out but by now we just wanted to eat. Any way after all that the food was okay and nothing to complain about. When the bill came he was sure to point out how kind he was not to charge us for the apple juice. All in all this would be an alright restaurant, If the guy serving improves his customer service/ manner/...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery poor. I think I had the worst Chicken Tikka Massala I've ever eaten in this place. It looked great, but had absolutely no flavour to it, even the chicken was tasteless, plus it was overpriced. I can get a better CTM from Sainsbury's. The staff were rude and abrupt - my food was pretty much thrown at me from a distance rather than placed in front of me. People talk about eating off the menu - well in this place you literally can. They're laminated, so a wipe over with a damp cloth every once in a while wouldn't go amiss. I only ate here because I was staying at a B&B in the same road. Another Indian in town was offering a three course set meal for less than I paid here - I wished I'd gone with my first thoughts and eaten...
