This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens...
Read moreI can’t believe such a great restaurant is so tucked away, not spoken about and not busy every night it’s open! I highly highly recommend coming here, especially for the price! £35 for such high quality of food, 4 courses, is unheard of and well worth the visit. We’ve been meaning to come here a long time and it lived up to the expectations. The mains were by far the best part of of the meal, with the lamb dinner (of sorts) and mushroom risotto being the stars of the show. The jacket potato purée was divine btw! The starters were gorgeous too, but unfortunately the deserts didn’t quite hit the same bar. Despite this, the whole evening of food was thoroughly enjoyed, with healthy portions, good service and a nice atmosphere, although a tad quiet. With a large range of drinks options, and an comfortable interior easy on the eye, there’s really no reason you shouldn’t come! Great for larger groups and little...
Read moreI have been keen to visit this restaurant for a long while, and was excited when my friend booked a table. I had planned to have food from the 2/3 course menu which I had seen online. I was presented with a 4 course menu for £40, and while I am aware that 4 courses is not compulsory, it would not have been cost effective to select and pay for courses individually i.e. starter £9, main £24 and dessert £9, totalling £42, so it would make sense to just have 4 courses for £40. As I have not eaten here before, I couldn't risk spending a possible £100 ( with drinks ) for 2 people for an ordinary evening meal with no occasion at a pub style restaurant attached to a college. Unfortunately, I have not fulfilled my wish to eat here yet, which is a shame. It would be wrong for me to rate the food, as I have...
