Ordered , seafood linguine with mussels, shrimps and calamari. It came with 5 mussels .Tried 2 of them My stomach came to my mouth . Taste was disgusting, smell strong and far off . I smelled the 3rd one it stings . I immediately informed the waitress I didn’t even touch rest of the plate !
The manager came and told me that there is nothing wrong with the mussels ! I was speechless! Put aside i work at food industry - Waitrose last 6 years , graduated from Hotel management, was an assistant manager at a 5 star leading hotel which you have to have a high knowledge about food ! There it is I have been told off by a supposedly manager . Nice night turned out very uncomfortable , very stressful experience !
No wonder all around the restaurants full , Carluccio’s only had 8 table in total inside and out .
They replaced the linguine removing the mussels, with 3 shrimps , 5 tiny small in total 8 calamari, rest is swimming in a light sauce . Linguine Tasted well , shrimp and calamari how it should be , but lack of seafood after moving the mussels! Suppose to make effort and add more shrimps , to apologise! No chance !
The manager was so busy to get ready to put outside leather puffs and other stuff to store inside at 20.30 to while customers still sitting outside . I looked the next restaurants , full , people still eating their dinner and no one was getting disturbed by uninterested manager .
I think more than anything, I was very surprised the attitude of the manager who was rude , looked at me up and down and willing to put customer down and make customer’s night out a stressful experience! Yet alone ignoring food poisoning by completely ignoring my comment! I wouldn’t have written any negative reviews if it wasn’t manager’s ignorance , no apology. As I know how important reviews are , but this review is well deserved 🥇
At the end of the evening , they brought the bill with £4.30 discount because they removed the mussels . Who asked you a discount? But how they explained as because I ‘complaint’ ! They never apologised! I didn’t ask discount , i only wanted to have decent good quality meal in a nice atmosphere.
First rule if you are at Food industry, train your employees properly about how to treat and how to talk with customers , make sure what you are sending out in the right quality ! You can cause serious damage
At the end of the night I apologised to my self about the restaurant choice I made and said goodbye...

I visited this establishment for desserts and drinks, only to be met with an arrogant and ignorant response from a staff member. When we asked about low-alcohol options, we were dismissed with the comment, "What's the point in that?!"
While I understand that the UK has a complicated relationship with alcohol, I believe it's important for those working in customer-facing roles to understand that not everyone drinks—and not for the same reasons. Some may be pregnant, driving, allergic, or on medication that prohibits alcohol consumption. For others, the decision to abstain could be cultural, personal, or driven by physical or mental health issues.
There are also those of us who have lost loved ones to alcohol-related tragedies: from accidents caused by drunk drivers to addiction that claimed the lives of family members. For many, choosing sobriety is not a lifestyle choice but a necessity—to prevent further pain and to honor the memories of those we've lost.
No matter the reason, we do not expect to be judged for our decision. We don't criticize others for their choices, and we only ask for the same respect. A thoughtless, disparaging comment can be hurtful in ways that are unimaginable to someone who has faced significant loss or struggle.
I urge you to think twice the next time someone requests a non-alcoholic drink. What may seem like a harmless joke to you could be a painful reminder for someone else. In a world where kindness and respect cost nothing, surely those are the values you should uphold, especially when representing a business.
Instead of asking "Why don't you drink?", perhaps consider asking, "Why DO you drink?" Maybe it's time to reflect on the impact of our words and how we treat others.
I hope no one else has to endure such a thoughtless remark in the future. We deserve better, and I certainly wouldn’t have made such a hurtful...
