We visited on Saturday for lunch and walked into a relatively empty restaurant. We were given a choice of 3 very small window seats which felt claustrophobic. The family of 4 next to us and the people behind me, I could have put my fork into their food they were that close.... The waiter asked us if we wanted water which we said yes due to the spicy food. Please watch out as there is a charge of £3.50 for water(think it was a 1 litre bottle) and everywhere else we have been gives this for free. Our food arrived in 25 minutes because we ordered the platter for 2 and needed cooking from scratch explained the manager. We waited patiently and during our wait four pieces of soaking wet slices of garlic bread arrived, even the person delivering them pulled a face! When our £31 platter turned up, our immediate reaction was "wow, 31 quid for this!" but within seconds we had to send back one side dish as it was cold on the inside! The platter consisted of 2 sausages, 2 pieces of chicken breast, a small bowl of coconut rice, 2 small dollops of coleslaw(put on the same plate where all the sauces and gravy ran into), some ribs which were nice and a cup of spicy fries(a handful each) As we had already sent food back we cautiously picked through the food, some was burnt, some was quite nice but the whole experience was ruined by bits of everything including the bill which included the food we had sent back earlier. We told the young lady and it was quickly removed. In our experience, the seating is just too close, the food was very very disappointing and for £55 not value for money either. The good things are the decor and the atmosphere which we've always liked when visiting other Turtle Bay restaurants. Sorry but poor and...
Read moreI’d booked a surprise meal and called up and asked for two separate tables to be put together. On arrival our tables weren’t together and instead of putting our tables together they had other guests sat in the middle of us which made absolutely no sense. The surprise was ruined as their family members were sat on the table across from ours instead of them being already at our table. We had to wait until the people on the middle table had left and then had to move them together by ourself which was just a pain and it spoiled the surprise.
I also ordered the fish fry however was disappointed in the presentation when it came to the table as the calamari seemed like scraps in comparison to the first time and the sauce was on the tray rather than in a pot. It’s the attention to detail that let it down I think!
Won’t allow me to write another review but I came again with work colleagues and ordered a fish fry to be told there’s no salmon. I had to quickly choose another meal and opted for the chicken burger which was really disappointing. The meat looked discoloured and unpleasant. I also ordered ‘Pineappleade’ which was £5 and was bought out in a pint glass, it was essentially pineapple juice with a dash of lemonade which was really not worth the price.
Updated review:
Came again to Turtle bay and ordered the fish fry and I definitely will not be ordering it again. The meal overall looked disgusting, the calamari was so over cooked I couldn’t even bite into it! There was no jerk mayo either and a tiny tea spoon...
Read moreThe service we received was fantastic. Muntha was very polite, efficient, and helpful, especially when helping our children choose their drinks. Regarding the food, I can't fault the quality of the food, but the fried chicken was far too spicy. My 8 year old son ordered a childrens fried chicken burger. He really struggled to eat it because it was very spicy. He only managed to eat half of it with the help of a few glasses of water. My wife had the fried chicken breast, but again, this was far too spicy. It was spicy that she could not eat it. My eldest son had the yardbird, which comes with fried chicken. He really struggled to eat it. He needed a few glasses of water to help him finish it. My goat curry was amazing (highly recommended). My daughter had the mac and cheese, which she enjoyed, but this was definitely a microwave meal because it was very, very dry, and you could see some of the pasta was bonded together. We did tell Muntha about the spice level of the chicken, he said its all hand marinated 24 hours in advance so a replacement was not an option, so he knocked my wife's meal off the bill. Some people probably wouldn't have an issue with the spice level, so I guess it's personal preference, but even I thought it was a little too spicy. If you go onto the FQA on their website, it does say it's not spicy, which is a bit misleading. Unfortunately, I don't think I would take the family to...
