Overpriced, Subpar Seafood Platter - A Total Rip-off I recently ordered the Mixed Seafood Platter for 2 at a staggering price of £60, and I can honestly say it was one of the most disappointing meals I've ever purchased. This dish was all "smoke and mirrors"—expensive presentation hiding truly abysmal quality. The most egregious component was the tempura crab claws. We were told they were handmade, but that's demonstrably false. Every single claw was identical in shape and size, clearly indicating they were a mass-produced, frozen product straight out of a box. They tasted stale and lacked any hint of fresh preparation. The rest of the platter was just as poor. The platter cane with 3 dips that were probally out a bottle and dis not conplment any of the foid. The prawns were utterly tasteless, and the promised squid was virtually non-existent. For £60, we barely ate anything. My partner and I managed to consume just four prawns and two smaller prawns from the "prawn lollipop" before giving up. The rest was left untouched. We shared our feedback with the staff, and while we were offered 20% off the bill, in hindsight, this was insufficient. Given the poor quality, the obviously frozen components falsely advertised as handmade, and the fact that we barely ate any of the main dish, we shouldn't have been charged for the platter at all. Avoid this platter. It is vastly overpriced for the low-quality, factory-standard food being served. Save your money and go elsewhere for fresh,...
Read moreWe loved the atmosphere in here. It is a small space so booking ahead is advised! The drinks were quite expensive (min. £8.50 for a large glass of white wine). I felt it was a shame that there were no beers offered on tap however the choices for bottled beers were strong! This place offers a tapas style of dining. 3 plates per person is sufficient but you might want to order a cheeky side just to satisfy your hunger. I went for the crab claws (amazing with a delicious sauce), the prawn gyozas and the tofu. Our food came staggered which we expected and weren't worried about but the tofu and octopus only arrived after we had finished everything else. The tofu was a bit disappointing - two small slithers of tofu that only slightly tasted of their marinade and were so soggy in the middle that it was hard to pick up. However, everything else we ordered was very tasty. Overall, considering this place is newly opened, they are off to a strong start but with the prices being quite high, the quality needs to be consistent across all dishes and perhaps the timing could be improved. I'm sure these niggles will be remedied...
Read moreVery disappointed with our visit to Jomo for dinner on Tuesday evening. 1 hour 45mins for 6 tapas dishes and dessert. Food was pretty poor. Not particularly attentive service. Poor value for money especially considering the food quality.
Opted for the taster menu at £85 for a selection of 6 tapas dishes, 2 sides and 2 dessert. Ordered soft crab, veg spring rolls, duck bao buns, lamb skewers, scallops and mussels for the tapas selection. Fries and grilled asparagus for sides. Veg spring rolls were OK, but suspect they were frozen. Bao buns had hardly any filling inside. Mussels were OK, but were over cooked. Scallops were drowned in a sauce and were very much under cooked. The lamb skewers were genuinely the greasiest things I have ever eaten... the asparagus was very overcooked and very very salty, so much so we were having to scrape the salt off prior to eating. The only positive, cheesecake was delicious and a good...
