The new 'must-go-to' in Warwick.
Fortunate to try Revive for lunch today; top job James & team! Food and service was spot-on. Not sure I could really justify a midweek burger-blowout, but it lifted my happiness score hugely.
...all the best bits of 'Boston Tea Party' decor, mixed in with some welcoming independent touches.
A very inclusive atmosphere; not just trendy millennials, but young families and happy seniors also (that might be me).
A welcoming front-of-house to all curious passer-by's, but also observed a dignified welcome to a tired-looking family with a physically-disabled member who was seated and served with equal care.
Perfect vantage point for the freelance-fraternity; quiet corners, benches, power sockets. A relaxed service that was attentive but not pushing me to refill or move on.
A short but nice chat with the owners revealed what a courageous and generous investment they have made in this quieter part of town. At least x10 new jobs created and a long list of local artisan food suppliers supported. Heard some thoughts on how they can further use the space to support various community groups via themed daytime events.
...and if you're the type to micro-moan about dog-access, almost-wifi (it's on order) and an 8-min wait for your coffee (a young, enthusiastic team learning the ropes), then (a) redirect your misplaced grumbles towards the giant US-owned alternatives in central town, or (b) change heart and support a novel, welcoming new space whilst it debugs it's new systems, with compassion and a bit of tolerance.
I implore you Warwick residents, give it a go; let's help these brave new-business types to make-good in these...
Read moreVisited on a Saturday lunchtime, having also booked there for a meal later in the evening. A good selection of craft beers.....at a price! We live in Hampshire so are used to inflated prices. We stayed for one drink and left. Turned up for our table booking to find 5 deep at the bar and a chaotic scene. We had a table booking, were we supposed to queue up at a heaving bar? I asked a member of staff which table we had booked and was shown to a table for two, right in the middle surrounded by noise. No menus on the table! I had asked about table service: none....you have to queue at the 5 deep bar! I had booked a table for gods sake, I don't expect to have to queue! We left. Too disorganised noisy and chaotic for us. Found a lovely quiet Indian place down the road instead. Note to the owners of The Craftsman; if taking table bookings for the evenings, at least provide a proper system of dealing with people who have booked tables and provide them with table service, which would surely take the strain off your busy bar. We can't be the only customers who have left frustrated with your set up on a busy evening. Plus your prices for craft beers are frankly...
Read moreGreat place for breakfast. The barman informed us that the sausages (not to be confused with hostages), come from an artisan butcher in Stratford on Avon. The whole of the breakfast was top quality, which was especially true of the sausages, which were very meaty and full of flavour. We both had a latte, which was very nice but could have been a little hotter.
We were passing by during a heavy rain storm later in the day, having finished our business in the town and were offered shelter from the rain by a very helpful young man. We decided to do just that and took advantage of the pastries to go with our tea and coffee, before our return journey to Windsor. I would definitely recommend the tea, especially if like me, you enjoy three large mugs of tea from a single teapot. Spot on, I’d recommend the blueberry slice and tiffin, both were top quality and tasted homemade.
Last of all , I’d like to extend a big thank you to the barman, sorry I didn’t get his name, but we had a good bit of banter between us, making us feel like we were regulars, which we may be going forwards, visiting our son who is due to move to...
