What a shambles! Yo! Trying to be a 'Dine In' restaurant but is literally McDonalds for Japanese food (anyone from Japan would be horrified). Yo! Change your model to be take away and eat in like Itsu because you have better customer service and experience at Itsu as the food is far superior, cheaper and not paying a service fee for self service. Sorry Yo! but even if you changed your model Itsu will still win.
The manager seemed more interested in fist bumps, handshakes and odd bro hugs with customers and staff than actually being a manager. So self involved he doesnt even see how disorganised his staff are or how experience is delivered to his customers. He didnt even ask why we left 15mins after arriving. Only thing good, was the coke and the beer as that wasnt made by Yo! Literally a conveyor belt of low quality food complimented by bad customer experience and service.
Where to begin: Greated by 4 different staff 30 seconds apart, to be seated. 3 tables hadnt been cleared and i asked if it was busy earlier, answer it hadnt been busy for the last 30mins. So why were tables not cleaned? Manager seemed more interested in stroking his ego than managing his restaurant. We recieved dirty plates, and a staff member insisted it was clean as they were just washed. I think the food still visible on the plate should have given it away that it was not clean. The staff had no clue and no direction, seemed like an after school club than a 'dine in' restaurant. You would think ordering food using a QR code would seem easy and you would assume staff would be attentive and clued up. However, staff waited by the ticket machine for orders, recieved soft drinks without ice, asked for ice his eyes rolled like i was becoming a problem. Yo! has literally taken the experience of going into a 'dine in' restaurant and turned it into a order and sit restaurant. McDonalds does this experience better as you order on the app or interactive screens and stsff deliver to your table. You cant remove mistaken additions on the website and have to go to the staff to get items removed, however staff dont go to tables as they huddle around the ticket machine. Problem was staff never check in on customers and they want a 12.5% service tip for what is essentially self service. 4 . The food was shocking, sashimi was hacked to death, like a cat had chewed it. The sushi rolls were really small (4 bitesize pieces), and charging £6+. The tuna was clearly canned, no way tuna looks that grey at a sushi restaurant. Miso was from a vending machine, basically a japanese 'cupasoup', not even fresh, no wonder its unlimited if you can even get it as the staff dont know which staff member is looking after which table. Again bad manager equals bad service. The sushi was warm and the rice was stale and had hardened around the edges. Basically the sushi had done the rounds in the carousel for a while. Sushi should be served fresh, in Japan the sushi restaurant is always cool so the fish doesnt spoil so stays cool, this place was literally hot so obviously the taste is gone.
If this is Yo! Don't think this so called restaurant will last in Watford. I look forward to the day the doors...
Read moreWe gave this restaurant the benefit of helping us to retrieve a refund for a meal that was not served to us but unfortunately the manager and staff have continued to ignore our calls and requests to refund our money since early December. The system doesn’t work in the restaurant well as internet is bad and their new scanning the QR code to order food format is flaky to say the least. It took us three attempts and it wouldn’t apparently appear on their system to actually start preparing our order. After 40 minutes of trying to place our order we requested a refund. This was apparently automatic and will be issued to my account. This was false information and hasn’t happened. Multiple calls to the restaurant and nothing has been done. Ben the waiter and member of staff that actually served us was very helpful and appreciated the system isn’t working and could understand my frustration but also needed to pass this on to the manager/management team. The management team are at fault here as they have taken my details and failed to contact me and resolve the issue. I’ve also contacted my bank but they have stated that they as a chain of restaurants such as Yo Sushi should have refunded your money back to your account immediately. I have given 1 star for Ben for taking the flack on the day as it’s not his fault and taking my call initially to tell him money had been taken from my account and I would like a refund. I’ve taken this review seriously as I can see the management are not interested in retaining long term local customers and I won’t receive my money back and to warn customers to not be caught out by this situation at this particular Watford branch. A shame as was once a nice place to take my family. Happy New Year!!!
I’ve added to my review as I knew I would receive the standard reply which is sent to all negative reviews and comments from the owner…drop us a line (email) and we will try to help the situation. I don’t want my money back as you should have done that after the 1st or 7th request. ‘To all customers’ you will not be contacted to resolve any issue from this restaurant chain. They just reply with the same message to any complaint. In this market with so much competition it’s unlikely Yo Sushi will be in Watford town in the next 12 months with this service and average...
