My partner and I dined on Saturday evening (14th). The food was delicious and beautifully showcase the local and seasonal produce in the area. However, we were disappointed the service. Felt a bit too relaxed ans unbothered. Paper napkins which were not refreshed during the courses, despite being dirty and taken away on the plates. I asked, only 1 was brought back. Our water jug was not topped up and empty for ages. We asked the waitress who took it away, but then never brought it back. The wine we order was ‘2018’ vintage but the wine we received was ‘2021’. It was good don’t get me wrong but not what we wanted - the bottle was also opened away from the table. We tried it and said it was fine, addressed it with the waitress who looked embarrassed but did nothing. The dessert was missing one of the elements (Brandy) and we were only made aware once it was brought to the table, not before. The wine pairing meant with the dessert, came late and once we were already half way through. Just little things that made our experience not necessarily a good one which was a shame as we both work in hospitality and were both very much looking...
Read moreUpon arrival, even though we'd booked, they seemed a bit surprised to see us. After that, the staff were friendly and explained the restaurant's concept. The restaurant is decorated in a light and calming manner but the music is just slightly too loud and we found it a bit intrusive. The small plates are brought to the table in a nicely staggered sequence and there wasn't too much of a wait as it's all cooked in real time. The wine list was not particularly extensive with prices skewed towards the upper end of the price range. The dishes we had were well executed and delightful, particularly the fish dishes. The restaurant celebrates vegetarian and vegan food and they do it well. Even though the dishes are good the servings are a bit on the small side for the price. Overall, they have a winning formula which would replicate itself well in other parts of...
Read moreA tapas style restaurant serving small sharing plates (perfect for two or four people - a bit awkward when there are three of you! - of delicious plant based dishes. It’s not often that I get inspired by restaurant food but I definitely did here. Every plate was a taste sensation. My only gripe is that there weren’t many vegan dishes - a lot of dishes had cheese and a few had meat, which was a surprise for a restaurant billed as plant-based. The lovely waitress kindly annotated the menu to indicate the vegan dishes and those that could be made vegan but it wasn’t clear if those dishes would just be the dish with the non-vegan ingredients left out or whether there was an alternative. The vegan member of our party is used to having to compromise so are vegetarian, but that was a bit of a disappointment, made up, to a large extent, by the quality...
