I've had my fair share of ups and downs with this branch of McDonald's over the years, and actively avoided visiting at busy times because no matter how many people are working there - they're always so slow.
But waiting a while for food is nothing compared to the cleanliness of a restaurant, and on my last visit I was shocked. Shocked is a hard word perhaps reserved for Daily Mail readers, but it's genuine. You don't expect the floors and tables to be filthy, or sauces to be on the seats and tables that has had time to dry! It's fair to say that if head office was inspecting, they'd be shocked too. Anyone would.
During our meal, when it was pretty quiet the staff had been playing around and even the people at the back were clambering up on the equipment to see what was going on. What nobody was doing was coming out to clean.
Having arrived at 6.30 and eaten, having cleaned the table ourself with wet wipes for our two-year old, I approached the manager at nearly 7pm to raise my concerns.
This is where I was rather shocked that the man who was on charge simply apologised by saying he was sorry I felt that way. Not sorry that it was a mess. I asked if he thought it was acceptable and he said that they didn't usually clean when people were around, as a customer had complained earlier about cleaning going on.
When did this policy come in? Don't clean up when there are customers? I rather sarcastically asked if that meant they couldn't clean until they shut and he quickly changed tact, and said that they should clean every 15-20 minutes. I asked when they'd last cleaned, and he admitted it was 5.30. That's almost 1.5 hours. And the upstairs section had already been closed, so it's not as if they had all of that to worry about.
How can a McDonald's do this? The manager was still insistent that they had done nothing wrong, but did admit it looked a bit untidy and sent a kid out to start cleaning.
To cap it off, as my son was playing up outside we didn't leave the area for a few minutes - in which time I was able to see the yellow-shirted kid sent to clean had decided instead to sit down and chat to another customer he obviously knew.
Until this manager or someone else shakes things up, I wouldn't recommend going to this branch, especially with young children. Go to the Galleria where they employ staff to keep the place clean who appear to have pride in their job. It's also disappointing that we have people employed who do not care one bit about providing a good service, when there are many others who would love to have such an...
Read moreThe last two times I had decided to have lunch here, the situation here was equally bad. On the first day, there was a large amount of staff behind the tills, which is supposed to mean fast service, however this wasn't the case. You wait a lot to get served, there is no space to eat in, especially if you come in with a number of people, because the floor above is always closed with the reason being that they have said that there aren't enough customers, which is clearly not the case. The host boy clearly had no experience for his position, and only served food to customers (he didn't clean after customers). When asked "can you seat our family somewhere as the top floor is closed", he answered by asking us to wait until somebody else left their table. On the next day, the same boy served our order, but without fries even though we ordered them. I asked him if he could bring them to us and showed him the receipt, but he looked lost or confused. So I had to explain the same thing 2 more times that we had 1 order of missing fries. I also gave him our receipt to go tell his manager, and after 15 minutes after I had finished my lunch, I finally received our fries (perhaps unsalted as revenge 😂). Another negative was that all customers which needed the toilet, needed to queue up for the only (disabled) toilet on the ground floor (since upstairs is closed as previously mentioned).
I find it hard to believe that there is a McDonald's with so much staff, with no drive through, and yet the service being such a...
Read moreToday with my friends i have decided to use the services in McDonalds in Welwyn Garden City and it was awful. At the start when we just walked in we noticed the dirty floor and dirty tables. We made our order on the touch screen. While waiting my niece decided to play on tablets provided by McDonalds. In the table we waited were 3 tablets - none of them worked. My niece, who is only 4 was very disappointed. Once we received our order, we didnt know where to sit down, as all tables were extremely dirty. We ordered to eat in, but our meals were packed as take away, as the McDonalds colleague mentioned "he didn't have any trays", although there seemed to be some on the side behind him. We tried to sit by the window, but the table was just dirty. We found a place to sit and we had to clean it ourselves. There was a McDonalds colleague who I assume was meant to keep it tidy, not even once I saw wiping any tables. She was just collecting empty packages left and kept walking round. There were bits of food on the floor and nothing seemed to be done with it. I was very surprised with how low standard was there, this was the first time I had such an unpleasant experience at McDonalds. The food also was cold and it just wasn't enjoyable. I would strongly recommend to have some kind of control in there, as we are dealing with food. Serving it and consuming at such environment makes me...
