The Edge — Restaurant in West Lancashire

A friend of mine had told of the Edge of Ormskirk and it looked really nice from outside so I decided to give it a whirl. I am glad I did.

I went in. The first thing I noticed was how cosy it is.

This very pleasant young man gave me a menu and I asked for a Chocolate milk shake. Then as I sat down I looked at the menu. I saw this ploughmans platter which really grabbed my attention. I am a vegetarian so I made an unusual request. I asked for one without ham and this very kind lady gave me another cheese instead. Now I can eat cheese for England and I smiled as she offered another block of stilton. In terms of bread I was asked for brown or white and chose one of each.

Then the world's biggest milkshake arrived- literally. It was huge, it was laden with cream and marshmallows- it was divine- it was a chocoholic's dream! If Homer Simpson was trying one he'd he saying "mmmmm Chocolate."

I wondered if I'd have room for the meal. Then it arrived- a meal fit for a king. It was a good thing I didn't have an appointment for a while because this was a huge meal. I can eat cheese for England so I was spoiled for choice.

All in all it was a meal that left me shaken but not stirred. Was it worth the money? Absolutely - it was very cheap for what I got. Would I go again? Yes. Would I recommend them to anyone? Ordered afternoon tea for my nieces 40th. Delivery on time. Was given a list of sandwiches one of which was salmon and cream cheese, this was replaced by tuna without any consultation. Also ham and coleslaw was on the list, this came with only ham. The sandwiches came in squares and the bread so thick with not much filling. The scones came ready made with cream and jam, although I’d said I wanted the cream and jam I did think it would be on the side. Scones very tasty and cakes lovely. The soup homemade and very good. Overall a nice afternoon tea but could have been so much better. Thinner bread, more filling and advised of a sandwich replacement. Better presentation...

Went here for a breakfast with my partner we both had ultimate breakfast s which I found slightly smaller portion than I expected even though my girlfriend found herself full I would have preferred more beans with my meal. I also found that the toast was lovely but was a bit small for me and would have like another but there was an extra charge which I didn't wish to pay.
