Sunday lunch. A return visit to this great atmospheric pub which is now under new management. My table was easy to book over the phone with Patrick despite him having a large booking due around the time I wanted. We were given a bright front window seat which was perfect for us. The menu was simple with some real temptations added as extras. I can heartily recomment the Marmite and cheese roast potatoes. Yeh I know, sounds odd but seriously try it, you wont be disappointed! The barstaff and waiting staff were friendly, attentive and helpful where needed, my thanks go to you front of house staff. The portion sizes were just about right and everything tasted like it had been cooked with passion, chatting to Patrick after we finished our meal completely confirmed this. So, go and give them a try, the prices are good, the food is on point and the pub is a great traditional old English pub with plenty of history. I said in my last review I will be back, and now the new owners have ably taken the reins I will look forward to many...
Read moreA friend came up to visit me for the weekend.
I had arranged to go to this place for birthday drinks with my other friends who were waiting for me in the beer garden. He replied with a snappy comment about the bar and then revealed he was the land lord. Honestly, I was not prepared for such a comment to a stranger who was just trying to find his friends in the garden. So I questioned it.
The friend I arrived with finished our drinks and left feeling we didn't get the friendly experience I received from this place many times before.
It's a great place I will continue to suggest but I found that comment from the...
Read moreWe have been coming here for drinks for a few years and love the friendly staff, atmosphere, beer garden. We came on Sunday and tried out their summer roast. We had chicken and Mediterranean veg. It was delicious. It took some time to come but we put that down to them trialling this new Sunday menu. I can’t stress how friendly the staff are which really makes all the difference for me. They are dog and toddler friendly! My son running about didn’t seem to trouble anyone and we enjoyed a nice cider in the sun. Equally my son loved throwing for the ball obsessed pub dog! Would 100% recommend the Elm for Sunday lunch, drinks. They also do live music which we have enjoyed...
