I attended the restaurant at 12:30 during Newmarket Open Weekend and visiting the Museum for the first time. I didn’t know this place was there, we had an hour to spare and it was lunchtime so we were happy to find anything that was serving food. There is a beer garden which had lots of what appeared like free tables so we started hovering around one when the manager came and asked in an impatient tone “can he help us” to which I replied “yeah we were hoping to have some food” and I smiled apologetically. “Do we have a RESERVATION?” I said no we don’t, we didn’t know we needed one. “On a sunny day on a Saturday of course you would need a reservation!” He said it so patronisingly I almost felt like crying, he then commanded us to come with him inside where people “without reservations sit”. I kid you not, that’s what he said. The menu wasn’t crazy sophisticated, large plates consisted of 4 types of burgers, salads and a steak. The burgers were tasty though.

I don’t remember feeling so humiliated by a restaurant staff ever in my life. I understand that sometimes you need a reservation but that could’ve been done with a smile on a face and much more respectfully. I can’t say I’d recommend this place with that manager there, he...

Very nice food and coffee but service is a bit hit and miss. We came on Easter Monday and the staff seemed unprepared for it to be busy. Shortly after we arrived, a dozen cyclists arrived and the kitchen and bar appeared to almost fall over. The staff were perfectly pleasant but it felt like the organisation and efficiency could do with improvement.

While the food was nice and breakfast options good - the vegetarian breakfast was a little disappointing. While a full English with two sausages and bacon was ÂŁ8.95, the vegetarian breakfast was only 50p cheaper. Despite this it comprised spinach, an egg, beans mushrooms half a slice of toast and tomatoes; no meat substitute (ie. Quorn sausages) and overall felt a little insubstantial for what you were paying. This seems to be a bit of a frustrating theme with restaurants that aren't primarily vegetarian - assuming that because you don't want meat, you won't want to eat a lot. This is easily rectified - either reduce the price or add something else in...

I recently hosted my anniversary event at The Tack Room in Newmarket and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. From the moment we arrived, Paul the owner and his team went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of. The venue itself is charming and beautifully decorated, creating the perfect ambiance for our celebration.

The food was absolutely delicious, with a variety of options to suit all tastes. The service was impeccable, with the staff being attentive and friendly throughout the evening. Paul personally checked in on us multiple times to make sure everything was to our liking, which truly made us feel like valued guests.

Overall, I highly recommend The Tack Room from Brunch, lunch & dinner or hosting a special event or celebration. The combination of fantastic food, excellent service, and a lovely venue make it a top choice in Newmarket. Thank you to Paul and his team for making our anniversary celebration...

Last Saturday we had the privilege of a second-to-none dining and wine pairing experience. Paul Winchester, the owner, and Rob from Corney and Barrow pulled off a mean feat combining wines with each of the melt-in-your-mouth five-courses (six, including the amuse bouche). Champion of champions mein host Paul, and his team of attentive and charming servers (special mention to Adonis Giogros) did the chefs' Michelin-standard dishes proud. Corney and Barrow of Newmarket's Rob, a self-confessed wine geek, provided valuable insight on the wines, patiently taking time out at each table. Our table had a perfect view of the National Horseracing Museum's retired racehorses quizzically poking their heads out of their boxes simply added to the magic. Worth the trip up from London. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Came here with a friend and my hubby for lunch. We had booked a table inside but it was such a beautiful day that we asked to be seated outside...no problem! What can I say about this place except wow! The food and atmosphere is standout. Lots of people ... so clearly a popular place to have food...and when the food came I could see why. I flip flopped between the flatbreads (all sounded lovely), but went for the chicken (hubster went for steak). It was so good...but what was equally good was the side salad. Really tasty and lots of care paid...and it showed. I will 100% be back...we talked about it being a great venue for a girly lunch, but also talked about taking my 80 year old pa there and a quick walk round the museum. Looking forward to my next visit.

I went to the tack room the other week with my family. It was a lovely sunny day and the outside seating area is really nice. The place has plenty of character with the small horse racing museum and retired racing horses round the corner. It’s a nice chilled out atmosphere and the staff were really nice. I ordered the tack burger and me and my sister shared the focacia sharer with cheese and caramelised onions. Both were delicious, but they forgot to bring out our starter and so we had it with our main. The sweet potato’s were nice and crispy and the burger was hefty and tasted good. The only downside is the food takes a while to come
