Unfortunately, another terrible experience at Wildwood. I had given this a third chance and still it's just really average and totally overpriced. They seemed to be stressed and understaffed, so it took about 50 mins from starter to main course. The starters were much better than the mains, no complaints there but the mains were utterly terrible. Burnt, tasteless, and likened to a Tesco's ready meal. Burnt chicken, blacked edge fries, tasteless fish, and spaghetti with no flavour. I can't understand how they are able to serve such sub standard meals. If they were short staffed, they shouldn't open than serve this quality of food for actually, an above standard price. The waitress was friendly, but we had to ask several times for drinks and felt rather forgotten. I don't want to give an unfair review, but after returning again - still terrible terrible food. I have attached a picture of my burnt chicken burger which was like rubber. Do not recommend at all.

The good: Great atmosphere with chic decorations, seating was comfortable. Our mains were delectable, absolutely zero complaints. The Wildwood sundae (pictured) was just the right size to cap off the meal. The not-so-good: Service was awfully slow. We must have waited for 15 minutes before we even got our drink order taken. The crab bruschetta was £6.85 and essentially was tuna on toast. Definitely overpriced for what it was. Will try going back when it's not so busy.

This restaurant is located in a historical site. In the old days it was known as The Cock Pit, where King Charles II watched cock fighting. People say that it keeps its outside hexagonal shape since the 17th century. The restaurant is relatively knew and serves Italian food , including pizzas. The atmosphere is pleasant and prices are reasonable. The waiters/waitresses are friendly. All considered this restaurant is good value and is worth a visit.

My partner and I had been let down on our reservations at another restaurant, so we thought we'd try Wildwood.

It was 7.30pm on a Friday night so we knew it would be a bit of a gamble that they would have a table free. It seemed like they might not have the space, but the manager and her team went about making a quick turn around on a table that had JUST been cleared and seated us within only a minute or two. We both ordered the steak (not really one for photographing my food but I really wish I had!), both came out very promptly and we absolutely delicious! The steak was tender and juicy, the sauce was flavourful and light, and the fries were lovely and crispy without being over seasoned or oily. When finished our steaks, we were offered the dessert menu - we did look through it but didn't order anything, neither of us has much of sweet tooth. One of the girls had come to check on us and ask how everything was partway through the meal, Karolina came over to check on us again as we asked for the bill.

My one and only 'nitpick' (although by no means a negative statement, just a constructive hope) - a slightly better whiskey/whisky selection would have been great! Jack Daniels and Jamesons are decent (I went for Jamesons), but would have loved a nice glass of Glenmorangie/Glenfiddich/Talisker to be able to have with my steak.

All of the staff members had been so friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere of the venue was lovely, and the food was absolutely delicious! We left there already talking about when we'd be wanting to come back again to try other things on the menu! Thank you again to Karolina and the team, you all made our night and we look forward to...

The service was shocking. We came here because of good reviews. There were 5 of us and we came for a 40th birthday celebration on a Newmarket race day but the restaurant wasn't 100% capacity so shouldn't have been a problem. The service was so slow. Our nibbles of bread and olives were ordered immediately. We got the olives after 20mins and the bread after another 30mins just before starters arrived. The food was nice. I had mussels from the starter and risotto for main.

The gluten free options and other dietary requirements were really limited.

Mains did not arrive together. 3 of us were served our food, the 4th came approx 5mins later than the last about 10mins after that. Apparently there had been an issue with the wrong sides ordered. The side of green beans arrived just as we were finishing our meal.

We opted for speciality coffees which although were not on the menu we were advised we could have. These didnt arrive for 45 mins. We had given up by then and told the waiter to cancel them. Then put of nowhere they appeared!

We did receive an apology and a refund on one main and the coffees but the damage had already been done to our birthday celebrations. It was a bit...

Went for my wife's birthday and she was so disappointed.. upon making the reservation I asked if the restaurant had a kids area like the one in Ely. No they don't and they asked me to make sure the kids didn't run around the restaurant. To which I responded, "oh, so have them behave how they would in any restaurant? Got it". The kids Pizza was dried out. The appetizer, baked mushrooms with gorgonzola was dull and flavorless. The mains took a very long time to arrive and when they did the carbonara had no flavor, needed to be salted and I had to take off the parmesan on top because it was burnt. The main Pizza I ordered was mushroom and truffle oil was also a disappointment. The atmosphere was nice but smelled like a fish market and the wait staff was 2 out of 5 not attentive, seemingly to busy for us and oblivious to the timing of our food being served. After the starter they asked if they should start making our mains... yes, please make the food we ordered. Thanks. Also enjoyed the disappointing looks we received when we ordered water. Thanks again. I prefer the...
