Costa Coffee Drive-Thru — Restaurant in Wigan

Unquestionably a great cafe, and a welcome addition to the retail park. Well set out internally , with external seating as well. However, the lack of a 5 star scoring for this branch is in direct relation to the lack of thought put into installing the drive through ordering port directly adjacent to one of the outdoor tables. At one end of the table your subjected to an audible assault of the order process, and at the other an assault of polutents from the vehicle exhaust - and of course the level of air pollution relative to the time taken to process an order. Oh, and of course then there's the car next in the queue, and so on. It would be comforting to think that a member of staff will be proactive as promised and raise the issue to Head office. The fear, of course, is that it's more likely to pay attention to a libel case raised against them, in which the plaintiff sues for failure to take reasonable care of providing a hazard free environment for their clients whilst consuming their products on site; conciously providing vehicles access which would not only remain static for a period of time within close proximity of dedicated seating areas, but a potential of significant numbers queueing all emitting exhaust fumes into said area. Small place which was busy so must be popular. Service was a bit a slow, one girl standing looking at me from behind the counter but not really doing much until someone else prompted her to take my order. Had a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. It was luke warm so had to drink it quick and not very tasty. I don't normally compare with other places on reviews but I tried Starbucks a few weeks ago and the same drink there was much better, hot and extremely chocolately. I paid extra for the cream and marshmallows and noticed that the regular hot chocolates other people had had small Terry's Chocolate Orange pieces on their saucers, I didn't get those and they probably would have been nicer than the marshmallows. Probably won't go back to Costa again as I'm not a coffee drinker. Plenty of parking as it's situated on a retail park and easily accessible. A very bright and airy cafe, however I counted 9 tables that had not been cleaned and where full of used cups, etc. The staff member who took our order was very pleasant and as usual the coffee was the costa usual standard. We thought we would try using our own reusable cups for the first time and it worked well. We managed to find clean table and sat in-store to enjoy our drinks. After a while a staff member started to remove the used cups, etc from the tables. For some reason he didn't clear two of the tables and never wiped any of the tables down. We eventually finished our drinks and by now some of the cleared tables had been occupied with new customers. At no time did any staff member wipe any of the...
