SIGDI Indian Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Wigan

Out of over 300 reviews I've given 5 stars maybe 4 times (Less than 1.5% of the time) It's important to me to reserve 5* reviews for places that offer a product / service that is significantly superior to all its competitors AND during the delivery of that service commit zero errors. A high bar I've set but at least when the reader sees a 5* review from me they know that I've been very very impressed. Anyways, Club Rasoi.......It was a quiet evening with only 3 groups in the place (Meaning it was arguably easier to offer great service....Would it be the same with 20 tables set?) I don't know of course, I've only been once. I can only review what I experienced, there and then and on that occasion they deserved 5 stars. Service was fast, servers were friendly/polite and professional. Decor was attractive and modern and table spacing was just about right. The food, on serving was hot, well presented and very, very good. The menu was big enough to offer good variety but not so big as to be confusing and the mix of well known "Standard" dishes and the more obscure "Exotic" dishes seemed to be perfect. Looks like they spent time doing what so few Indian/Chinese restaurants do.....consider the "Balance" of dish types and flavours with the typical customers' pallet in mind. They also got the balance right with the "Post-serving attentiveness" - You know, those often way to frequent "Is everything OK sir/madam" When done wrong they can literally spoil your meal. During our meal we were asked this question three times - One was spontaneous - the waiter was just walking past and the other two times were when we were being served drinks. My daughter's meal was hotter/spicier than she expected and was having trouble eating it. The manager brought some plain yoghurt to mix with her sauce base to try and "Cool it down" a little. Then at the end of the meal he brought a bowl of vanilla ice cream to cool her mouth down.....all without being prompted. I've consumed Indian food quite regularly for 40 years now and this recent experience at Club Rasoi has to be in my top 3 of all time. In fact, to be honest I couldn't actually tell you when & where I had a better experience or food. All in all.......

When I reached out to Rahul, the manager, to celebrate my father-in-law’s 80th birthday, he went above and beyond to ensure our party for 20 guests was unforgettable. He expertly helped us craft a set menu that catered to everyone's dietary needs, including young children, and generously added special touches that made the evening unique. Rahul even created bespoke menus for our celebration, adding a personalised flair.

The Sigdi team took care of decorating the space, a huge relief for me as a disabled person, and Rahul personally picked up the cake I ordered, maintaining the surprise for my father-in-law. On the night of the event, Rahul assured me that he and his dedicated staff would handle everything—and they truly did. Even the chef came out to greet us; a lovely gesture.

The atmosphere was wonderful, the food delicious and beautifully presented, and the cocktails were delightful. Rahul’s passion for his work and confidence in his team shone through every detail, from our initial discussions to the flawless execution of the event.

Our evening at Sigdi was filled with joy and cherished memories, celebrating a milestone birthday in style. Thank you, Rahul, and the entire Sigdi team! 🙏🏽

An exceptional dining experience at Sigdi Indian Restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff who made us feel right at home. The decor is tasteful and inviting, perfectly balancing traditional Indian elements with a modern touch. Soft lighting, elegant details, and a clean, well-organized layout gave the whole space a cozy yet classy vibe. The table setup was thoughtfully arranged – spacious enough for comfort without feeling crowded, even during peak hours. It’s clear a lot of care went into the design, creating an atmosphere that’s both relaxed and refined. Now, about the food – absolutely divine! Every dish was bursting with authentic flavors, cooked to perfection. You can really tell there’s a passionate and highly skilled chef behind the scenes. Each plate was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly humble and clearly passionate about the restaurant. He shared a bit about the inspiration behind the menu and their focus on quality, which really showed in every bite. On top of all that, the parking was a breeze – convenient and located just a short walk from the entrance, which is always a huge plus.
