Well, reader,I had previously mentioned that I wouldn't go again to the green Lodge. But they tempted me with a 30% off food, so the wife and I went. I ordered the thick cut bacon chop. The menu said with pineapple, fried egg flat mushroom tomato peas, and triple fried chunky chips. Sounds good, doesn't it. So it wasn't. The bacon chop was dry and hard to chew. The peas were dry and like bullets, the flat mushroom was not big. The chips were lucky if they had been fried once. Some were still hard in the middle. Now I know you may think I'm a moaner, but at ÂŁ20 a go, I thought it may have been better. My wife had the chicken, ham hock and leak pie with mashed potatoes and green veg. See the photo, the veg was over cooked to the point of being mush but they looked terrible. Also the pastry was rock hard not crumbly. Maybe the pudding would be better. wifey had brownie sundae , the waiter said that they had run out of chocolate sauce and she had the last. He said better than nothing! Sundae consisted of chocolate ice cream, flake and a ruddy big chunk of brownie sticking out of it. I had cherry and apple crumble. No cherries, just hard apple in a red sauce. About a sprinkle of crumble as a topping. What does the chef think of his creations? I couldn't tell you as no one came to our table to ask. I couldn't get any of the waiters' attention. They were too busy clearing and cleaning tables. Not very attentive to customers. Didn't get the same waiters, just whoever came near out table. So temptation didn't do me well. I won't be tempted again, well unless they do a...
Read moreI recently visited The Green Lodge in Hoylake for a Sunday roast dinner last week with friends along with a 30% off voucher only on mains in hand, the voucher come through the post and the discount is what enticed us to dine there rather than the Boathouse in Parkgate which is nice but never had any offers on - with a group of seven adults and one child (2 years old) we couldnât have been more pleased with our experience and the bill came to ÂŁ20 per head including one drink each and a main meal each and a childâs meal to boot.
The food was lovely well-portioned, served piping hot, and exactly as we ordered. Every dish arrived in a timely manner, with no mix-ups or returns, which made the visit even more memorable. The quality of the meat and vegetables was excellent, all cooked to perfection.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The seating was comfortable, the venue was very clean, and the staff were attentive and accommodating.
Itâs an ideal place for families meeting up or even a business lunch.
Another bonus is the location âjust a 10-minute walk to the seaside and there is plenty of parking spaces, making it easily accessible.
We highly recommend The Green Lodge and will definitely be returning soon. Just one big disappointment was there wasnât any Sparkling Water in the house and the soda water offered as a substitute isnât to everyoneâs taste ! The Green Lodge gets a âââââ...
Read moreUpdate: Visit 4:30pm - 18/06/2023 We took my dad and companion for a father's day treat, nothing could be further from the truth. Bread for pate was burnt, burgers were dry, no sauce, pickles or tomatoes, just a piece lettuce end and the buns for mine and my wifes burgers were burnt too. thought after my last review things may have improved, no, they are worse than ever. I will never be returning, SHAME!
Visited pm - 26/04/23 It's a real shame, but the standards from the kitchen have dropped quite dramatically of late. This is the second poor quality meal we had in the past three weeks, hence the review. When you're spending ÂŁ150 plus for a mid week family treat, I would expect more. Out of the five meals we ordered all had something wrong, and most had items missing. The ham hock and pie came with only five or six French fine beans, which we're tough has boots, with the carrots and peas missing. The hunters chicken was dry and partly burnt, with the salad looking like it had spent a half hour under the hot lamp (sad and wilted). The chicken and avocado salad looked similar to the hunters chicken salad, but with barely any dressing and rock hard avocado slices. Final the chicken burger was boarder line burnt too. We didn't complain at the time, because the waitress looked clearly under pressure, and she is lovely. We used to visit regularly, but we won't be returning for a while, not until...
