After reading some good reviews about this place decided to visit as a treat. The restaurant itself is compact and delightfully decorated - very cosy. Ordered drinks which came within 5 minutes. Not much choice for non drinkers though - only peroni zero beer as a glass of coke costs ÂŁ3!
Not a good start to evening when people on another table had a row so a frosty atmosphere followed. Mozzarelli balls arrived on the table which weren't ours and after speaking to the people next to us it had been given incorrectly. Dough balls starter took 45 mins to arrive and only after asking one of the female servers when they were arriving. More time followed and no main pasta meals - everyone else who came afterwards had theirs. After waiting 75 minutes from the order had to ask one of the female servers where our meals were. The server had not given our order in to the chef until we asked! They finally arrived 10 mins later but the pasta cacio e pepe pasta dish was inedible as it was so full of pepper grounds in the sauce (and I like pepper!).
Caleb the owner to his credit asked if everything was ok and after telling him the issues we had, he apologised and discounted the bill. It is a lovely little restaurant but some attention to details a year after opening is important such as people on the table by the door not given serviettes where they had to use their own tissues, the people on the table next to us not given a pizza cutter who struggled to cut their pizza plus customer training to the servers who didn't make any apologies for the wait and getting the orders wrong both with our meal and the...
Read moreHope Ciccio does really well in the village, a good Neopolitan pizza restaurant is very much needed. However my experience sadly wasnât the best!
I had ordered two pizzas for pick up and was told to turn up in 30 minutes.
I arrived after 30+ to be told to return in another 10. There were two tables of two in, so it was relatively quiet. I returned after another 15 to be told it had âonly just gone in the ovenâ.
The young lad front of house appeared embarrassed. But cards on the table, it was early days so dealing with training, new team, new set up, new process etc, so loads of grace to be given.
Nevertheless, Neapolitan pizza should surely be flying in and out of the oven in a matter of seconds. Not sure how two took over an hour when the restaurant wasnât busy at all.
A lovely lady was very apologetic and offered complimentary dessert on my next order (which I always find strange - spend ÂŁ70 to get a free dessert?).
Pizza itself was lovely, albeit very expensive considering the size. I considered the takeaway size might be compromised to fit in the box, but even so, neither pizza was sufficiently big enough given the price (see picture).
Regardless, hoping that now theyâre more established, the process has become more streamlined. Other reviews suggest theyâre doing all the right things so maybe my experience was an isolated one. All the best!

Read moreQuite simply, if you want authentic Italian food, and reliable service that makes you feel well fed, and well looked after, Ciccio is the place to go, one of the best restaurants and delivery places in the area with some of the best Neapolitan pizza you'll find anywhere, some great pasta and side dishes and now expanding into sandwiches some days too which are also great! Lovely people making lovely food, they also are very good with wine and desserts, honestly you can't go wrong, they're great. Whether it's been smaller orders for quiet nights in or a large group they'll always deliver top quality meals and always have great communication/customer service. Been going here for a while now, and honestly don't see myself stopping any time soon unless they get sick of seeing me,...
