We are fairly new to the area and thought we would try here tonight as a change to our usual Chinese restaurant. Sincerely wish we hadn’t. Service was lacking in many ways - no proper welcome, no friendly faces throughout the evening. Decor very bland. Menu dirty and no explanations of meals within, just their names. Plates very small and cold. Diet cokes served tepid with ice. I had vegetable tempura which looked distinctly undercooked and was really rather unpleasant. I ate it all only because I was hungry. My husband had aromatic duck to start, which arrived some time after mine; it was ok but nothing to write home about. My husband’s main meal of Singapore noodles along with my egg fried rice arrived ages before my main of fried chicken with vegetables in Cantonese sauce. I ended up putting a plate over my dish of rice to keep it warm. Another table was served their food. Eventually I put a stopwatch on to time the wait - 8-9 minutes is not an exaggeration. I was offered another bowl of rice when my main course arrived but declined as it would have delayed the meal further. There was no heater for the food and it was served on coldish plates. My husband describes his main as very, very average with something in it that he couldn’t identify. My meal I ate only a little of - the chicken was so over cooked it was disgusting, the vegetables were unpleasant and it just looked like the small amount of sauce was poured over the top. At 9.40pm I decided I couldn’t face any more and googled the closing time of the local Co-op where I went and purchased a ready meal. When my plate and bowl were removed I wasn’t even asked if my food was ok (most of it was left). For this distinctly unpleasant Friday night experience we paid a whopping £43.10. A complete rip off. Nothing could possibly tempt...
Read moreVery disappointing. We hadn't visited before but we know others love this place so we booked tonight with some anticipation of a lovely meal. How wrong we were… One can forgive lacklustre decor and incongruous music if the food and service are excellent. Sadly, the decor and music were by some stretch the least bad part of our experience. It seemed impossible for our meals to be served together—my wife's starter (soggy tempura) came a few minutes before mine, but my main and her rice came so long before her main that they were barely warm. Being served on cold crockery with no heater didn't help. I don't think I've been to a Chinese restaurant where there wasn't a heater for the food. The food itself was disappointing. My wife's chicken was overcooked and hard in parts. My chow mein had an odd taste with an unidentifiable soft brown ingredient that was particularly strange in texture and taste. My wife was unable to complete her main. Unfortunately, the amount of food left did not engender anything other than indifference in our waiter—we did not feel that allowing us to express our disappointment was on his agenda. It was fortunate the nearby Co-op was still open so she could nip in to get a ready meal which proved better in taste and value than the fare from Minh's. Won't be...
Read moreAwful customer service and food has gone down hill! We have been a customer of Minhs for over 20 years and seen multiple management changes but this the worst. I went through my order with Leah on the phone and when I repeated the order at the end of the phonel to make sure its right she was very dismissive and very sure it would be right. When we got home we couldn't even eat the Chow Mein as it was filled with red chilli powder (on the menu it states green chillis not red chilli powder and this is what i was confirming with Leah when she was dismissive of repeating my order as it has happened in the past) and the banana fritters were half the portion size compared to usual. I rang the restaurant and spoke to Leah and Lloyd (the manager) who accepts their chef messed up the order but said either we have to come back to them to collect or wait an hour and a half for them to deliver our correct order. When you go inside the restaurant its often quiet and it is not surprise why. I understand mistakes happen however its happened many times and they are very rude in how they treat customers.
If i could give a minus review I would.
We went to Chopsticks instead which is nearby and their customer service is brilliant and food is excellent, good portion s and good...
