When entering the Dog and Gun you could see that it was a fairly quiet local pub with few customers in. The Pub overall had a nice atmosphere and a very cosy vibe. It had a lovely country feel to it with an open fireplace. We had to order ourselves at the bar and put the cutlery out which was disappointing given that we would have expected table service in similar venues of the same chain. The lighting was also good inside. There was a little bit of a draft coming in from the entrance due to the proximity of the table near it but it was relatively comfortable. Food and drinks were delivered quickly after we ordered. The mains we ordered were lackluster in terms of our expectations. The Classic Chicken Burger topped with BBQ pulled pork came out cold. After raising this with a member of staff she said she would 'check this for me' as though I was lying about the temperature of my meal. After disappearing into the kitchen for 5 minutes she then reappeared to agree that the dinner was in fact cold. She then proceeded to ask if I would like the meal reheated or a fresh one cooked! I believe that no restaurant should EVER ask if you would like something reheated and should always be cooked fresh. The Belgian Chocolate Brownie Dessert left a lot to be desired as it was too thick and didn't actually taste all that chocolatey. It was also quite rich and very gooey. The Caramel Apple Crumble Pie was satisfactory. The custard had some congealed skin on the surface which left a inconsistency with the overall dish. The filling and the pastry itself was tasteful and filling. Using the facilities we did notice that there was a door in the women's toilet held open by beer mats which was inventive as it was situated close to the driers. The service in the pub was friendly but had started to get slower towards the end of the night which given the level of trade in the pub was not a good sign. One of the cubicles did not lock and the other had danger tape on it. Overall, we would be hesitant to return as we found it to be average overall. A 5/10.

The pub is part of the Ember chain of eateries. We ordered Starters: Nachos, Main: Mixed Grill, Sunday roast Turkey dinner and Sunday roast Beef dinner. The Nachos were very good. The Sunday dinners arrived cold, and the carrots too hard to cut. The Mixed Grill was fine, small peice of Chicken and Steak, good slice of Gammon, two Eggs, Peas, half of a small Mushroom, half a Tomato, three Onion rings and oven fries. The Sunday roast lunches were returned to the kitchen and were replaced with hotter servings. The staff were obliging and friendly. Sweet : Two in our group ordered the Chocolate Munchies Sundae, Vanilla Ice Cream topped with Cream, Munchies and a Cadbury's flake. What arrived resembled a smoothie with Munchies in it. Melted Ice Cream with spray Cream and Munchies. Yet again the items were replaced and did resemble the menu description. It was a shame that the order wasn't up to a good standard on the first offering, but to serve inferior items twice was unforgivable. This was on a day when it was very quiet, many empty tables and the Chef would not be under pressure. Nice place, nice staff but the whole experience ruined by lack of thought for what they were serving. They need to serve the Dinners hot and the ice cream cold. See pictures for details.

Visit Thursday 6th July 5pm Decided to go for a meal pre my eldest sons award ceremony, My decision to go here failed miserably, wish we had gone to the Wetherspoons instead. Alcoholic beverages were nice enough and so were the nachos for starters. Myself and my wife had the 2 rump steak meals for £18 to which my wife upgraded to sirloin. My son had sausage mash. Sausage mash had 3 sausages which were overcooked and a small amount of mash which appeared to look like a child's portrait, tasteless according to my 13 year old son. Mine and my wife's steak was unbelievably chewy, the table next to us were saying the same and they actually walked out leaving quite alot of food. My son asked kindly not to complain and we brought him a dessert as he was still starving after his small main meal portion. We made 2 purchases including drinks and we spent approx £80. We went to Wetherspoon a few days later and spent £40 which included my daughter and the food was 10x better. I won't be going to the Dog & Gun again. We frequently go to "The Bell" also run by ember inns, but a higher standard

I guess it all started today when we arrived for our reserved table, studied the menus and on the way to the bar to order food, the surly Barmaid shouted across the room "if that's a Sunday menu in your hand we run out of everything at three o'clock". My initial thoughts were "why don't you take the menus off the tables then!" but I didn't, back to the table and once again decided what to order. The food took 50 minutes to arrive and one of the meals looked like it had been in the oven since yesterday (half chicken) delivered to the table with a steak knife! (I think the chef knew when they sent it out) . Unfortunately the chicken beat the steak knife it was so dry and hard. On complaining, the server (who came to our table) said that he didn't start for another 45 seconds but he'd have a word with the chef. (yes, he really said that!) he never came back, he just went behind the bar and started serving people. We ordered tea and coffee then at the bar, unfortunately after 20 minutes we had to visit the bar again to ask where it was. After this complaint, the coffee and tea promptly arrived. We didn't ask again what had happened about the chicken complaint because to be honest, everyone had finished their meals and the general attitude of the the two staff we dealt with made us think a positive result would not be achieved. The other people in our party said their meals were edible but they wouldn't bother again. I think this is my first bad review on the net so you can only imagine how annoyed I am. We have visited the dog And Gun in Tettenhall for food on many occasions and the food and service have been fine, but unfortunately for them, that...

Well my review of this place has changed from 5 stars to just 1 since my last visit just over two years ago. Today me and my partner visited. We waited to be seated and no one come over to us at the entrance. So we had to find a member of staff to be told to find a table and order at the bar.. anyway we found one table which the table was all wobbly, decided to go to another table which was just as bad. Anyway we decided to just sit there and went and ordered our food and drinks. Food cone nice and hot including the actual plate. Which was good. Though the pie well was it even worth calling a pie. There was absolutely nothing in it but a small amount of gravey.. anyway we finished the uninpressed meal. And waited 45 mins our table to be cleared so we could order pudding. We was almost at the point of just moving to a clean table we waiting that long..anyhow pudding come with no issues. . Not once was we asked if the food was OK or if we had enjoyed our experience. Having moved into the area we thourt this would still of been a good place to go and eat and possibly have a couple of drinks. But after today I will be thinking twice about coming again . PS i forgot to mention the place needs a good clean. It absolutely stunk of stale beer. And staff could have been organised a lot better. Rather then every member of staff trying to...
