Colston Bakeries — Restaurant in Worcester

I never usually leave reviews but I feel like I should for this cafe. Me and my friend fancied a drink from another cafe in Worcester (we are very loyal customers of Papas Caffe). Weirdly, we decided to try this dismal and empty cafe on the corner. We waited 2 minutes for a member of staff to recognise that we were waiting to be served, there were no menus up for drinks so I peeled one off the sticky table🙂

I ordered a latte and my friend picked up a fridge soft drink, the lady proceeded to stress that it’s more expensive to sit in and drink?! This place isn’t like a Greggs nor do many other cafes charge extra to sit in, it wasn’t brimming with custom, character or atmosphere so to charge significantly more to sit in is quite atrocious. Merely metal chairs inside and out without any kind of cosy feel either!

The lady was very rude and made us feel very unwanted and unwelcome, my friend put her drink back and I now feel as though I should have saved £3.20 on my very milky and weak coffee that a shoe would have made with more positivity.

I have worked in costumer facing jobs before, it wasn’t busy nor a big ask at that moment but judging from other reviews, we are not the first to be hit with this poor customer service.

Such a shame for a cafe in a lovely city, we will stick to our regular atmospheric coffee lounge.

Me and my boyfriend bought a pastry in the morning, and there was no sort of clear queue so we waited for a while slightly clueless. Then we got served, absolutely fine customer service at the time until we sat down on one of the tables and one of the ladies behind the counter came over and pretty much said to us “why are you sat down” and we both were extremely confused. She then proceeded to tell us that we had no right to sit there as we have to pay for it and that we were told up at the counter whilst paying. him and I just said back that we were never told, even on two separate occasions as we both ordered separately. I decided to grab a quick drink before catching my bus and, despite warnings that Colston's might make me miss it, I thought I'd give this bakery another chance. Big mistake. The experience was chaotic. The staff were as confused as I was and there was no clear system for serving customers. After letting a few people who arrived after me go ahead of me (not optional apparently) I was finally served, only to be told that I should keep an eye on those in front to avoid frustrating others. I know -- I have been the victim of this at Colston Bakery many times before! I strongly recommend some sort of queuing system.
