Went there ar the weekend for coffee and cake after being out all day.
The woman serving was awful, she was very rude and to me she seemed like she thought she was better than her teammates.
We ordered a flat white and brownie with a another drink with cake. The brownie was very dry, you could see it was left from the day before. It was on top of a fresh uncut brownie my partner took it back for a fresher piece and was shocked by the manner Of The server. She did cut off a small fresh piece from the corner and it was better. The coffee was very nice.
We overheard the same server having various conversations with her staff and other members Of The public and each time she was getting ruder and ruder. A customer asked for his food after waiting for 20mins and her response was very disrespectful. She told him it's coming you will have to wait. Strange for him to wait so long considering it was empty in the shop.
Another customer came in who she seemed to know and she proceeded to cut her out a huge bit of brownie from the centre Of The fresh one. Why? Why not a side bit like me?
All in all a horrible experience and all caused by the one member of staff who seemed to be in charge that day. Will not use this...
Read moreI agree that the coffee and food are good but I am disturbed by the number of dogs in the cafe. The cake and other food are on open plates without any barrier between them and queuing/passing customers - including dogs! Personally, I don't think it is hygeinic to allow pets of any sort in eating eatablishments and it surely contravenes health and safety/food hygeine guidelines/legislation? When I enquired about the pet policy, I was informed that 'small dogs' are allowed in the downstairs of the cafe. Are small dogs cleaner and safer than large ones? 5 minutes later somebody came in and sat down with a very muddy labrador (small??) and nothing was said by staff. The following day, I also noticed somebody leaving the cafe with a very large dog. I shall not be using the Boston Tea Party any more and I shall miss their good coffee and cakes but I don't think dogs and eating establishments mix and will take my custom somewhere with stricter (and more consistent)...
Read moreI love Boston, have done for years. Grew up near Exeter and now live near the Worcester branch. However if I'm 100% honest, I felt pretty nervous on my recent trip. People walking in the "exit" and wandering through until someone noticed them (credit to staff, this was usually pretty quick) and distance between tables was not adequate - the table behind us was occupied and our chairs were less than a metre apart, in fact if I relaxed back in my chair at the same time as the person behind we'd have practically been touching - although we were back to back, it didn't feel as well spaced as some other places we have visited. I would probably avoid at busy times.
Big positive that you still take reusable cups though. Loving Boston At Home - but wish you could customise orders the way you do in store (eg. Hold the chipotle!). Love the online ordering in store too. I miss the Marathon...
