Dreadful! Where to start... very low atmosphere apart from the Chefs clearly enjoying the football (i wish they put this much enthusiasm into my food) as could hear them over everyone in the restaurant. Both waitress and waiter looked like they were on a night out, very unprofessional clothing. I was shocked to see airpods in both of their ears clearly the waitress was enjoying her music choice and the waiter enjoying his loud conversation on the phone, which carried on the entire time we spent there. A further display of lack of service included zero finger bowls layed down, or shell pot which would have been common sense seeing the quantity of shell fish on the platter. A manager was clearly lacking, I was expecting the food to be the saving grace. However, the seafood platter consisted of overcooked prawns, overcooked lobster, overcooked octopus. I would have been better chewing rubber towered on a large tray. To add salt to the wound I was insulted to see a service charge had been put on. Through poor judgement of myself I chose not to embarrass your staff members as I refuse to let this ruin my entire weekend or night. Clearly, the owners need to have an immediate team meeting to evaluate the performance that took place that evening.
Disappointing does not even cover our experience!
Looking at how you have responded to the other one star reviews with lack of empathy, apologies or care for the experiences received, I have very little hopes that writing this will have any effect on the members of staff/owners. They have already stooped too low to...
Read morePOOR SERVICE. We visited the restaurant for the first time this evening after hearing good reviews. Upon entering we could see it was busy but there were still multiple tables free. We were greeted by a waitress, behind the counter, who told us to sit in the window. As it was our first time we were unsure of the ordering process (do we order on an app, at the counter, scan a QR code) so we waited for a minute to see what happens. It became apparent it was table service and we needed to wait for the menus. While we were waiting a table of four came in, waited for the table to be cleaned, sat down and was immediately handed menus. A table of three came in and again they were seated and handed menus. It had been more than five minutes and no one had served us, checked us or even gave us menus. My husband went up to the counter to enquire if it was counter service but was told ‘no’ sit down, he asked if he could have a menu and she gestured with her head that he could take one from behind the counter. At this point we were rather upset that we had been left un-noticed therefore we decided not to support their business and left. First impressions...
Read moreMy goodness! What an afternoon I had. After a couple of hours pampering at Richard John, I went across to continue my hedonism with the Arcades Fish Restaurant. I sometimes dine here with friends but, today I was alone. So I got adventurous and went for the grilled octopus with kalamata olives, crunchy salad, bowl of rice and a massive pot of tea! The octopus was delicious, just warm, with a light lemony olive oil dressing. And it was soon gone along with every bit of salad and mouthful of rice! I followed with their awesome strained yogurt, so thick you could slice it, sprinkled with walnuts and drizzled with honey! The portion of honey looks massive but it is astounding, just how easy that light, citrus tinged yet rich creamy fluff slips down with the crunch of walnuts and the sweet edge from a drizzle of honey. Before I knew it, the dessert was gone, the octopus a memory and the teapot empty.. Time to pay and end this magical afternoon. Thanks to all at the The Arcades, my special day became a...
