First the dirt and grime issue, it was shocking how dirty the table we were on was, the floor, the bar area, the whole place was filthy, surface cleaning is all they seem to do here, if at all and the toilets have not been deep cleaned for a very long time by what I saw, I wish I'd taken my phone in to take photos, even the grout was filthy! Service staff were dismissive and rude, I agree with previous reviewers who said the same ( one server of food was nice) My friend waited for 20 minuets to order food, they ignored him to serve someone who arrived after and then took ages because they were focused on making drinks for others and when I went up they were trying to find a key to replace a till roll. ( there were 2 staff and 2 tills but they didn't want to use the other till it seemed) One left to go off to seek a key and the other decided to clean something in the sink rather than serve me! I was even spoken to rudely when I asked if I could make sure my food came the same time as my friend who ordered before me if I was to wait for the till but because she assumed I was asking for her to serve me right then so she repeated to me they were trying to find a key, but when I finished my sentence and she realised what I was asking, ironically, all of a sudden, she could serve me from the other till because she realised my food order needed to be served at the same time as my friends food- this should have been done in the first instance!! Now let's look at the price and food, the price is £15 for a buger and chips and £5 for a side but what a rip off for Iceland quality food! I happily pay for good handmade burgers and hand cut fries and i will say this looked great in presentation but the " skin on fries" are just oily shop bought chips with far too much frying, the burger tasted burnt, flavourless, no idea where the blue cheese was, and the lettuce was like cabbage ( I'm convinced it was !!) My friend said the chicken burger was equally bad and tasteless and he hardly ever complains about anything, we both felt sad we'd chosen to go there. The whole meal was over £22 each because I ordered £5 onion rings ( oily, basic mess of onions in over oiled batter.) I honestly would have gone to Mcdonalds and been happier! ( and that's How bad this was that McDonalds is better) how this place gets good reviews and a 5 star hygiene rating is beyond me, I'd never go again and I'd have asked for a refund but I'd have had to wait for service for half...

Such a shame I have to give 1 star, and let me explain. Yesterday was a lovely sunny day and The Cow Shed looked like a nice place to eat... it wasn't full full so had tables free, but what myself and partner wasn't happy with, is how the the staff ignored us waiting to be seated. Two girl staff looked busy and that's understandable, one girl staff looking new to the job, but the young guy working (working?) was wondering around looking lost... he did look at us a few times, but so brief we couldn't flag his attention... he then lent against the bar and just looked out to sea while we were standing there. We are patient people, so set a time to wait, so after 5mins it was obvious that the kitchen is probably closed and they just don't want to tell us as it's written so deserve to stand there. Later that evening we passed again and saw they are still serving food??? and this is why I am here with my 1 star. So to the young guy, if that was my restaurant you would be having a good update how to attend to customers, as the owner has now lost any further visits from us.. we went to the Turkish restaurant around the corner with perfect service all night, with a bill coming to £45 almost as we had a few good drinks... but at least you have a 5 hygiene rating for those considering. This review is more towards the attention to customers, it really makes a huge difference to be noticed only to be...

Really poor service and customer service. Waited 30 minutes for a moving mountains vegan burger that when served was burnt completely black.

I overhead the chef moaning to other staff that that was how it was meant to come (?) As someone who eats vegan burgers a couple of times a week, I think I’m a pretty good judge of what they’re meant to look like, and it isn’t a lump of coal (lol)

I asked - nicely - for it to be re-cooked and waited a further 40 minutes, by which point my table had finished eating. Again, I eat vegan burgers regularly, and they don’t take 40 mins to cook - 10 mins at most, and nothing else on my plate needed re-cooking.

We asked for a refund at this point, and were told that we could either have the burger or have the refund, not both. We are a polite group, so we explained why this was unfair, but the supervisor was pretty rude and argued with us. The manager refused to even come out to talk to us.

We begrudgingly accepted the refund, and I went hungry. On the way out, one of our group heard the supervisor moaning about us.

Definitely won’t be coming back again. I don’t normally leave bad reviews after bad experiences, but this was...

Hard to describe this place without over using the word "great". Food: amazing, really well priced and nice vegetarian selection. Drinks: won me over with a good Gin selection and cocktail menu but overall a great selection. Music: love it. Might not be to everyone's taste but there was a real mix being played and not a single bad track. In fact most that I heard were tunes that I absolutely love. Staff: friendly and approachable; made a small mistake with my order but were really apologetic and offered to immediately put it right. Atmosphere: all of the above points and the great situation of this place create a great ambience. If only I lived in Worthing; this would become my regular haunt.

I was in town for a short break and (luckily) The Cow Shed was a stones throw away from our accommodation. Our first impressions of the restaurant made us come back each night for the rest of our 4 day stay! I recommend coming here in the evening as the blend of fairy lights and music are just right, coupled with a friendly, helpful customer service experience (we’ll done peeps, you are all awesome) makes The Cow Shed “the stand alone dining experience in Worthing”. I recommend the “Hippy Chick Burger” - honestly, as chicken burgers go this one is peak. All the food looks well presented and prepped and service comes with a warm welcome and a smile - Eat Here Tonight 💯
