I booked a table for 18:30. Was greeted by a welcoming young lady, once seated we asked which cider options where available, it soon became apparent the other younger server didnt know what they had sold. After looking over at the taps we gave our order for the waitress. She came to back to say we havnt got that we have this alternative.. we went with what was offered, she returned saying sorry we havnt got that Either. 3rd time lucky we settled for the cider available. Seems that there is a supply issue that may need looking into,
We decided on our mains. We ordered 1 full rack 1 half rack ribs, the meat sharer (as a starter; we made the waitress well aware it was a starter. She even brought 2 spare plates and cutlery and stated this is for your starter) and loaded fries to come with the mains, again we made the waitress well aware.
10 minutes passed then the 'manager on shift' came over to let us know they have not got ribs. 18.30 on a Friday night...no 2 ciders and ribs unavailable..after seeing a table next to us get a burger that looked pretty good, we went with a piggy in the middle burger and a cluck it burger.
We then proceed to wait 45 minutes to be approached with "sorry for the delay we will discount your bill" she had 2 burgers n hand, I asked the waitress where the sharing board was as that was meant to be a starter, it then appeared behind her. After explaining we asked for the board as a starter she then said that is OK we will bring them back later implying they will be hot held. I questioned this and was told they would be made from fresh. I don't thing that was the intention or result.
We had the sharing boardover, the pork belly was good had good flavour, wings could have been crispy, they where Soggy but had a nice seasoning on them. Chix tenders again, were decent but was nothing special.
I stacked the plates pushed it to the side so it was obvious we were finished. there was a table of 6 next to us that had paid and left. The server continued to clear it even though it was clear as day we had finished and our mains needed to be called away. at this point we had been in the restaurant roughly an hour and 10. The manger on shift noticed we had finished and called us away and told the young server to clear us. Upon clearing, it was clear I had finished my drink. I was not asked if I wanted another. I thought she would of asked however that did not happen. After 10 minutes passing I went up to the bar to get my own drink, I was then told by the manger on shift what drinks do you want as we are taking your drinks off the bill, which didn't happen,
The burgers came out 15 minutes later the piggy burger looked nice however after taking a bite the burger was very tasteless. the only thing what had some taste was the pulled pork. I decided to sent it back as I didn't want it. the other cluck burger had bacon which was barely cooked. I imformed the waitress who proceed to tell me it's just because it's streaky bacon, that's why... iv been a head chef for over 16 years..it was pretty cringe to hear that as an excuse. I told the waitress it's not cooked I'm not being funny but it's on the edge of being raw, she eye rolled, asked if we wanted anything else, which we didn't. ruined our appetite.
Bill came they had taken both burgers off the piggy burger was taken back and the other burger was hardly eaten. To our surprise the drinks were still on the bill, after speaking to the waitress I asked for a manger which was responded with ; I am the manager on shift. after that she stated the drinks would be removed, she squirmed to saying she meant that the next drinks would be free and that I misunderstood... I asked for the 2 other drinks - 1 pepsi and 1 cider to be removed and we would be happy to pay the remaining bill wich was still £40. This was met with immature smurks, really unprofessional. I would 100% NOT!!- recommend this place. Take...
Read moreWords can’t describe this restaurant! We were frequent takeaway customers throughout lockdown - so much so that one weekend we ordered two nights in a row. So imagine our joy when we found out Stirr Ups were opening a brand new restaurant in our town!
We visited Friday 18th February as a party of four. What can I say about this restaurant? From the minute you walk in you are welcomed by smiling, happy staff. Throughout the service, each member was so attentive, accommodating and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble! A particular mention to Kalina who looked after us last night. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully, so much attention to detail has been put into creating such a wonderful atmosphere - it wouldn’t be out of place in a trendy city but without the inflated prices! I popped out to the courtyard while dining and it’s equally beautifully decorated, with heat lamps along the wall for the cold British evenings! Inside there is also the addition of a TV on the wall that was showing the Winter Olympics, which was a great touch. We became quite engrossed in the Women’s Curling, it actually felt really relaxing to be able to watch it, listening to some background music and laughter from other patrons, sipping down a cocktail or two. We also won, so celebrated with another drink! They have an amazing selection of drinks too. From craft beers to cocktails, there is something for everyone. The FOOD - second to NONE! I’ve tried several of the burgers and they are all heavenly. You know the sort of food that makes you feel good inside? The sort of food that I could eat forever. Each burger was crafted by the Gods. Well maybe not, but it certainly tastes that way. Also Bacon Baby Fries smothered in baconnaise and bacon jam… my mouth is watering just thinking about it. You won’t find a better burger joint anywhere, honestly, try it for yourself!! At 9:30pm the live music started, we were lucky enough to be right up front to enjoy the show. We didn’t get his name, but the performer was absolutely incredible. An amazing selection of songs, new, old and even mash-ups, which had everyone smiling and toe-tapping along. A few customers got up to dance, it was great!
I’d like to thank Stirr Ups for the best night out we’ve experienced in a very long time. We’ve had a few bad months and being surrounded by great company with great food in a great atmosphere was just the tonic we needed. It’s obvious that the owners have done everything possible to make this place so special. The staff are friendly and well trained, the food is delicious, the drinks are made to perfection, the restaurant is so aesthetically pleasing and the atmosphere is joyous. This restaurant is an absolute ASSET to our town. We are so lucky to have this place on our doorstep, I wish them nothing but success, and if they keep going the way they are, expect to see more Stirr Ups restaurants popping up in the future.
You will definitely see us again. Customers for...
Read moreI first visited Stirrups a few months ago and left with rather a good impression. The food was decent, the atmosphere lively, and the cocktails - especially during happy hour - were the star of the evening. They were well-made, generous, and enjoyable enough that we stayed far longer than planned, ordering more food to soak up the spirits. On that occasion, the place was buzzing; a Friday night full of people enjoying themselves.
Fast forward to our return visit, also on a Friday, and what a contrast. The restaurant was almost empty, the energy flat, and sadly the cocktails - the very reason we came back - were an absolute disappointment. The happy hour menu had been stripped down to the bare minimum, with concoctions so uninspiring they bordered on the vile. I appreciate the challenges of today’s economy and the need to trim costs, but cutting the very thing that sets you apart feels like resignation. I don’t mind paying £10 for a proper, well-made cocktail, but if you advertise happy hour as a draw, it ought to be worth the effort. Instead, it was quietly embarrassing.
We pressed on and ordered full-price cocktails and some burgers. Here again, something had changed. They were passable, but lacked the flavour and enjoyment I remembered. Something was missing - perhaps just the sense of care. And then there was the slaw. Even on my first visit I found it peculiar, over-engineered for the sake of standing out. This time it veered from bland to strangely off-tasting, which hardly inspired confidence.
The one redeeming factor was the staff, who were unfailingly friendly and attentive. They deserved better food and a better drinks list to work with.
In short, Stirrups once held promise but seems to be sliding into mediocrity. A lively Friday night with excellent cocktails can carry a place; limp drinks, flat atmosphere, and forgettable food cannot. A shame-because Evesham deserves better.
⭐️⭐️ 2/5 - saved only by the staff and memories of what...
