I'm sure the pub is fine for food and drink, but I really cant recommend this as a place to stay overnight. Whilst the rooms are clean and functional, the fact that every room appears to have the worlds loudest water pump connected to their en suite makes for a very bad nights sleep and basically impossible to sleep after 7am. We were woken throughout the night when our neighbouring guests used the toilet, and then as soon as they got up and started showering it became clear that we wouldn't be getting any more sleep, with the pump kicking off every 2-3 minutes. This continued for 40 minutes as each guest had a shower.
For anyone wondering, the guy who lives over the road from us spends his weekend servicing the outboard motor on the boat on his drive, The water pumps in the Royal Oak sound louder. On my twitter account (SR_Chep) is a video I posted on 16/04/19 of the noise coming from the room next doors en suite.
Like I said, I expect its fine for food and drink, but if you're planning on staying overnight take double your sleeping tablets and bring earplugs.
Oh, and be warned that certain booking sites list this as a B&B, which I only realised it wasn't...
Read moreA dinner out on the off chance as it was pouring with rain and staying at The Premier Inn in Evesham food at the nearby Beefeater brought us no joy. We ordered coffee but sadly not piping hot from those infernal machines. We were greeted with a cold cheerless bar the only customers on a Tues night. The bartender had limited English but was polite and welcoming. An interesting menu with usual pub classics and a tapas choice. I chose chicken skewers, halloumi chips and hummus with a flat bread for a good price of £12. My husband ordered fish and chips with mushy peas. The lady who served us was super efficient and concerned we had all we needed with a flagon of cold iced water. The food was piping hot and ABSOLUTELY delicious. Lovely hummus oily and nutty, flat bread crusty and warm. The halloumi fries with coated in breadcrumbs and were thick and chunky cut and the skewers tasty with onion and peppers. My husband had a good sized piece of battered cod and the crunchiest chips soft in the middle. We finished with chocolate brownie and ice cream, unctuous and rich and apple pie and ice cream. A great find this pub. We...
Read moreTaken to our room up some very dirty looking stairs. The room has to be the tiniest 'double room' we have EVER seen! Could literally put my hand on the side of the bed and touch the wall. At BESTit was a large single. My bedside lamp was broken, took it down to inform them, and asked for a larger room, told fully booked but we could have their 'premier' room at double the price!! Went back later to get lamp, told broken and they had nothing else? We were there for 1 night never saw or heard any other guests, no doors opening or shutting, not one sound from any room so clearly lied about other guests. There was a hole in the wall, the 1 stool was very wobbly, no TV but a remote control in room, was told the 'dish' had blown down ?? Went to bed, a constant bleeping noise kept us awake virtually all night, turned out to be their alarm box which was at bottom of stairs, ridiculously loud! Would not recommend this place to stay in, especially ROOM 5. Save your money and get a travel lodge or premier inn,...
