I travel frequently for my job, this week ended up in Abilene. One of the best perks is when people cancel for appointments, I have a little allotted time to get Lunch at local places. The reviews for this place are real.
This little shopping center is so adorable. You walk in and immediately feel calm. I drink coffee because I love the taste of it, with no sugar or syrups. I do like an occasional latte, and will get my holiday specialties at least once a year, but today was just a straight espresso. The beans are toasted decently, a little sharp in flavor but mello on the back end.
I opted for a half sandwich and cup of soup. It was about $10. I got the Rueben and chicken poblano. They were both GREAT, my ONLY pick with this place is the pricing. For everything, after a tip, it was over $15 for the shot of espresso, half sandwich (which was on a dark bread, normal sandwich cut from the store), and a decent small/medium cup of soup. Let me preface, the food was excellent. I want to spend the money to get another Reuben, as it wasn't to strong and had plenty of meat on it that wasn't bitter or hard. The soup was great, with good poblano flavor. Do wish it was a bit spicier, but I get not everyone likes that.
I love this place, even if it is juuust a little bit pricier, but I DO understand that prices are going up everywhere (even rent, I dont blame them).
Come check it out! the atmosphere is beautiful, it isn't too cramped, and there is an outdoor patio on the side of the building that lets you look into a river with tons of trees. Very pretty, especially this time in the year when the weather...
Read moreI've placed an order at this place about once a week for several months through Favor delivery service and each time there was something wrong with the order. Several times wrong drinks were made, bitter coffee, watery shakes, and then espresso machine was broken for over a month. Not sure how a coffee shop can sustain themselves without such machine, but it was strange that it was broken for that long. I called and asked about the machine and got an extremely rude response. I decided to give the place a benefit of the doubt and give it one last try today and placed the exact same order again...delivery driver contacted me explaining that a woman working the front was extremely rude about the size of the drink and threw a receipt on the counter and started to slam things while making food and drinks. I absolutely hate when someone else who is basically the middle man in this situation as a delivery driver being treated this way; it is no way to treat any customer and especially another service helping them sell and deliver to their customers. I called the shop and sure enough, the same woman was extremely rude on the phone stating that she didn't do any of these things, but considering how rude she was to me on the phone as a customer, I am not surprised. I love visiting local coffee shops in the new areas we move to, but never once I've encountered such ugly behavior in a small, local business where customer service should be the...
