Golden Chick — Restaurant in Abilene

We are from out of town and we visit Abilene often. We are currently at a hotel. Tonight I went to Golden Chick and spent $34 on a family meal! We had 8 pieces chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, and rolls. Everything was fine until I asked for plates to go. The person behind the counter told me that the manager has told them they can't not give out plates....that they are for dine-in only. That is ridiculous! I told her that we always get plates to go when we come here. She went and asked a manager and then she came back and told me the same thing. I left upset. I went into the car and told my dad that I will be calling and complaining because they did not give us plates. My dad went into Golden Chick and come back out with what I call are boat plates. They normally give out the black plates. I can understand if the manager tells the employees not to give them out unless if the customer asks for it but to not give plates because they are for dine-in only is ridiculous. They gave me, ranch, ketchup, and honey....plates should be no different. I know I am making a big deal but I spent a lot of money on a family meal. The manager needs to keep in mind that there are plenty of eating establishments in Abilene and I came to Golden Chick. Order10092 4 piece combo 8 poppers $18.38 I stopped here because my uncle had be raving about the roasted chicken. After three days of it, I decided to stop today. When I walked in I was overwhelmed with the many menu items. Every part of a chicken is available. I let the cashier know that this was my first visit and she helped me out with a few combo choices. I ended up ordering a 4 piece, roasted and fried and then added an order of poppers. I was given a number which I immediately knew came with a wait time but i was okay with that.

While waiting two employees come in from outside. One of them was holding a copy of a marquee. They walk to the back of the store and then came to the front of the restaurant. All of a sudden the male employee jumps up on the counter to started making changes to the menu. The area he is standing on at the counter is where you pick up your order. Yea your order will be bagged or on a tray and never touch the counter, but this makes everything else questionable.

Before I could ask for the manager, she walks up front and supervises the changes being made to the menu board. I then figure this was a normal here and just took my food once my number was called. I started eating the poppers I ordered but thought more of the guy on the counter and didn’t eat the rest of my order. The poppers were great but I won’t come back to this...

I came through the drive thru to get 4 wicked chicken sandwiches. When we got home we realized that they were just regular chicken sandwiches, no sauce, no seasoning and they did not taste good at all. I called the manager the next day to let them know my order was wrong, her name was Heather. She said they would remake my order for me the next time I go back and that she would write my name on a piece of paper and my order and to let the employees know that I spoke with her when I come back to get the order replaced. Well we came through today to get the order replaced and were met with mediocre customer service and employees basically thinking that we were trying to get free food. They pulled us up around the corner and made us sit there for 25 minutes waiting for our food. We saw mutiple cars pull up, order and leave with their food. I called the store at the 20 mins mark and they said they were making it right now and then came out 5 minutes later. I'm sorry but we never eat at Golden Chick because I just think their food is not good at all. The only reason we ate there the last time is because they were the only ones open and my kids were hungry but they didn't even like the food.
