Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Abington Township

I’m. A Muslim women working with patients with mental disabilities and today my client and I arrived around 5 :30 as we do per usual when we’re ready for a sweet treat and today there was only me and my client after a women had just gotten taken care of and we ordered two milkshakes… after a about 5 min another family came up and order about four things shortly after another five min went by the family had all but one item and my client just got her milkshake and I was still waiting another four min when I got my milkshake the milkshake was not full or filled to the top in fact it was well below it looked as if it were just a scoop and then the guy who ordered four things happened to get done the same time .. I had my changed dropped at me and felt more than ever that this is a racial issue and I’m aware of the news and what may have just happened but I’m a grown women and it’s by far disrespectful and my client with several mental disabilities whom I take care of noticed this treatment and was upset her self I’m glad she was able to stay calm because unfortunately she struggles with ADD, OCD, PTSD … and a few more I tried calling today and the phone went straight to the voicemail and I was unable to speak with someone about this matter but I would recommend that anyone black and Muslim stay away from this establishment they don’t value black business or...

This Rita's is a tiny shop with a really big parking lot. There is not a single seat or shady spot to stand under so most ate in their cars or took away.

MENU: Italian ice (like a slushee) made with real fruit, custard (soft serve ice cream), Gelati (Italian ice with custard), Misto (blended Italian ice and custard), Blendini (Misto with toppings), milkshakes.

EXPERIENCE: I was Rita'd out by this point in our vacation so I just had a spoonful of my spouse's Cherry Gelati. Very refreshing as it was blazing hot and not overly sweet. I'm still curious about their custard as its temperature is cold but not as cold as regular ice cream. So odd on the palate.

Service was friendly and quick as lines were nil.

I’ve been coming to this Rita’s location for years and always had a great experience, however, today, Thursday, August 3rd a little after 5pm, I go to order my usual water ice and pretzels. So, when I order my 4 pretzels, she put fresh pretzels in. Soon after, the pretzels were all done and I only received 2 out of the 4 fresh pretzels. The other two pretzels along with the fresh ones had been stale for a bit. So, I went back and asked the manager to give me two more fresh pretzels and she said “No, that’s the way it goes.” Then I proceeded to say, “I can’t eat stale pretzels.” Then, I told her that I would call the owner and then she proceeded to give me two more fresh pretzels.
