Overall consensus: Good presentation, but overpriced with not so good drinks and overcooked food and long wait times and strange conflict if ambiance.
Wait was a tiny bit less than an hour long, which is the longest I've ever had to wait to get seated for breakfast so far. This was on a Sunday later into the afternoon (Google maps listed it as not as busy, but a lot of patrons were waiting in their cars to be seated). Wee called and originally got quoted for 120 minutes wait, we came in and got quoted for 60-75 minutes, but we ended up waiting a little over 50 minutes. What is nice about this location is the ice cream store right next door named Cream. Great selection of ice cream, with my favorite flavor being the Maine blueberry (seasonal) this made the wait very bearable since it was amazing!
When we got seated we saw some promising options for drinks and food. We chose the serendipity iced tea, The Sultan, and The Chicken and Waffles
What i love about this place is the presentation, however, how long the food is cooked needs work.
Serendipity Iced Tea: Tasted like drinking water infused with a very weak tea with whole berries inside. No sweetness which me and my guest did not find appealing. For the price and size of the drink, would not get again as it is $4 for a small cup with tons of ice in it with little flavor.
The Sultan: Tasty and rich breakfast skillet type dish, however poached egg on top was overcooked and did not drip and ooze goodness when cut into. Potatoes were also poorly seasoned as eating them alone they seemed bland. The meats added were superb and the bacon was a great highlight to the dish. I would however not recommend getting the add-ons as avocados costed $4 extra dollars for a measly 2 small slices from a likely frozen avocado (can only imagine adding lobster)...
Chicken and Waffles: Crust of the chicken is tasty, however the chicken itself was overcooked and was bland. The waffle also came to the table soggy. We also didn't get enough maple syrup in the container given to us being barely half full.. We asked for more maple syrup and were greeted with another container with the same very stingy amount of maple syrup.
Music selection was quite odd when fitting the ambiance as we were listening to some strange Egyptian/Mediterranean music. It is a American/Mediterranean restaurant sure, but the feeling was more American with many of the items listen as "Momma's ..." It gives the vibe of being American with the ice cream store right by it doing the same. Yet we got the strangest song to listen to while eating and it just didn't hit right with us (i felt like i should have been eating curry).
I view taste and price point as more important than ambiance and appearance which is why my rating is quite low. This place has certainly been on my go to list for a long time but it did not sit right with me. And for how long the wait time was, I was expecting to be knocked off my socks
We ended up paying +$50 for 2 people. Would not recommend unless you like presentation.
Here are some photos taken of the food, it looks very promising on Yelp, Maps, and the website, but it just seems like all appearance. I don't think I will be coming...
Read moreI showed up on a busy Saturday at 11:30am, was quoted a 70-90 minute wait time. I went next door to the bakery to grab a drink and wait. By 1pm I received a text and was seated at my table. Me and my friend were crammed into a small table with about 6 inches between the tables directly next to us. The atmosphere was incredibly loud, both due to the large crowd and overhead music. We placed our order fairly quickly (2 main dishes and 2 drinks). Our food and drinks arrived in a timely manner. The food was good, but definitely not the same quality it was as a few years ago when I initially started coming to Yaz’s. Within 20 minutes of us eating, the waitress approached us and offered us to go boxes. Our plates were still over 50% full. I agreed, but asked for a second drink. Mind you, I had only been at the table for 45 minutes and had just finished my first drink, my friend is a bit slower and was still working on hers. The waitress explained that there was a long wait time for others and she would have to bring me my mimosa in a to-go cup. The restaurant was still going to be open for another hour and a half. I told her I wasn’t really comfortable driving around with alcohol contained in a flimsy plastic cup in my car. So I proceeded to drink my $11 drink from a plastic cup at the table. It was pretty gross. Meanwhile, my cup of water remained empty until the bill was being paid and I had to ask for a refill. Overall, for a $100 experience (including tip), I’m very disappointed. I expected to at least spend as much time sitting down with my friend enjoying our dining experience as we did waiting for the table. I felt very rushed, only getting to enjoy an hour at our very claustrophobic table, not finishing our food, and being given my second drink in a plastic cup. After that drink arrived, we were completely ignored. I feel like a 3 star rating is fair because the food was at least good and the staff was nice. Definitely not worth $100 (plus an additional $25 at the bakery next door). Yaz’s seems to have become more money and quantity focused over customer and quality focused. Very sad to see what used to be a great business turn into this. Will not...
Read moreThis Egyptian restaurant is incredible and I highly recommend it!!! ❤️ But be warned, and make a reservation during the week. We went on the weekend when they do not accept reservations and waited 70 minutes for a table. They have a small, theme-decorative area 2 doors down at the yaz bakery. Oh my word do not let me loosen that bakery! My thighs were clapping with happiness!!! 😂 There is a very small waiting area that they refer to as a lounge. Clean, and again all with the Egyptian theme. There is a variety of incredibly delicious food for everyone's palate, from short ribs to a quinoa and tabbouleh dish (soooo good, and I am not an adventurous eater) and the serving sizes were plentiful! The even offer adorable homemade drop donuts at the beginning of our meal (pictured). I only wish I had taken pictures of the food!!! Seriously this place was a very impressive Sunday brunch dining experience. I am a teetotaler and it was served in a mini French press accompanied by a hot glass!!! Even the silverware was impressive in that it wasn't short and cheap! I only wish I had taken more pictures of the food but I think after having waited so long we were just ravenous. But those homemade donuts were made to look like Cookie Monster.
YAZ'S TABLE is a unique and delicious experience that I highly, I mean highly recommend! Just remember to make your reservation during the week! 😍😍 Downside: very crowded making parking difficult. At the time that we went the service was somewhat slow, and it seems that because many of the servers were so young, and the place was so crowded it could be overwhelming for them. Just be patient because it's...
