Upon entering, the atmosphere is upbeat with a modern flair — love the Lincoln print and the decor! Definitely a spot that catches your eye right away. Unfortunately, service and execution missed the mark on this visit. There was quite a wait for a server to appear, though she was friendly and explained some menu features once she arrived. While waiting, I visited the restroom and noticed the service counter lining the kitchen — a neat setup, but cluttered with servers’ personal items, including a belt right near the rolled silverware. The area adjacent had broken cabinets, a dirty window, and plenty of dust and spiderwebs — not great considering it’s a small space and visible to the staff hangout spot. It took 2 hours for our food to arrive. My iced coffee, ordered after my family’s drinks, sat in the wait area for 20 minutes (my son spotted it) before NEVER being delivered — melted ice, separated layers, and no longer appealing. When I asked for it to be removed from the bill, the server blamed the barista. If coffee really takes 20 minutes to make and comes without ice, I’ll pass next time! Take accountability and be honest, it is more attractive to someone who spent 20 years in the industry and especially to those who know better. Food was mediocre, and my breakfast sandwich was cold on arrival. Our server seemed more focused on hanging out at the service bar than on guests.
That said, I believe in second chances — and extra shots! I’ll give Mudpenny another try because the vibe is great and I see its...
Read moreMan, I really don’t like writing poor reviews for a place but sometimes one is left with no choice. Party of 5 for a Sunday brunch. They were busy, but we were seated swiftly. Our servers were kind but the food and timing of everything was immensely off and very disappointing. Our drink orders took 20+ minutes. It took asking 4 times to get a glass of water for one of us. Our food order wasn’t taken for 25+ minutes and then it was 55 minutes after that before our food came out (we kept time, because what else was there to do).
During this wait time there was no communication or checking in from the staff. When the food came out we were all shocked by the lackluster portions and plating. Half of us ordered eggs Benedict, and the micro greens that were listed on their menu were nowhere to be found. This was a large reason why all of us ordered it, and at $18 for a bare bones benny, we were pretty disappointed that this wasn’t communicated. I work in this industry and I know that micro greens are pricy and played a part in the price of that dish. I kindly asked our server about the micro greens, to which she said to me “she doesn’t know”. It was a really inconsiderate experience at the end of the day, would have preferred to spend 2+ hours and $40 literally...
Read moreOver the weekend, I enjoyed breakfast at this welcoming spot in Ada with a friend while we waited for our group to finish up their 'aquarun'. I had the cortado that was pulled delightfully. The latte was a classic latte that hit the spot after being up since 6am to cheer on our friends racing.
The Patatas Bravas were amazing! Thanks in large part because of the seasoned roasted potatoes that were served with a savoury ancho sauce and garnished with chopped bacon and garlic aoili! To balance it and to help cut through the heartyness, it also had pickled red onion and microgreens.
The OG sandwich was a classic sandwich made with their house milk bread that I went with their chorizo. The bread was light and the chorizo was mild. If you're looking to do a classic breakfast sandwich and elevate it with garlic aoili and a freshly made bread, this would hit the spot.
Service was great. Weekend rush will require a slight wait, but not too bad depending what time in the morning you go.
