I’ve been a loyal customer at this location for over three years, but my most recent visit was beyond disappointing. On Friday morning, I ordered a simple bottled Coke Zero and a muffin, quick grab-and-go items. As I was about to pay, the clerk’s cell phone rang. Instead of completing my order, she told me to “hold on and that she needed to take the personal call” she then spent seven minutes on a personal call with her insurance company.
I stood outside in the hot heat holding my 16-pound poodle while another customer waited behind me in the heat. All the clerk had to do was hand me my items before taking her personal call. When she finally hung up the call 7 minutes later, she gave me a dusty Coke Zero and a small muffin, apologized, and offered my dog a pup cup since he was panting from the heat and 7 minute wait.
When I got home, I discovered the Coke was flat and expired—the date on the bottle clearly says March 2025, and it’s now August 2025. Selling expired goods, bad customer service and having customers wait while you take personal cell phone calls is unacceptable. After years of loyalty, this was a huge letdown in both service and quality and I will not...
Read moreJava and Hopps is a fantastic little coffee shop and a great addition to the Addison Circle area. The food is always tasty and the employees are very friendly. However, what brings it down is that the restaurant has a MAJOR ingredient restock problem, with them being out of major items often for multiple days in a row. Why, just today I went to get my favorite croissant egg sandwich and chai latte, only to find out they were out of croissants AND chai. Sole guy, they said, was arriving with refills in 15 minutes, but they had no idea what he had with him and thus what he would actually be refilling. And they were out of croissants when I went last week, and the fact that they had taken down the baked goods menu altogether tells me that they had not once gotten more croissants in all that time. They've also been out of eggs, bananas, horchata, and I imagine they've run out of plenty of other things I haven't ordered. Upper management needs to get a grip on making sure the restaurant has everything it needs to fulfill orders. And it's such a shame too because, as I said, they food...
Read moreWe’ve lived in the MAA Addison complex for over three years and have always treated the nearby park as an extension of our home. It used to be entirely public space—a place where we could walk, relax, and sometimes bring our own food to enjoy at the pavilion near this coffee shop. Today, while sitting there with our lunch—at an otherwise empty table—a woman approached us, said she owns the “restaurant,” and told us we weren’t allowed to sit there with outside food. She spoke rudely and walked away before we could respond. There are no signs, no fence, nothing to indicate that the table belongs to the café. The whole interaction felt hostile and unnecessary. I’ve tried their drinks before—too sweet, too much milk, and overpriced. The place may have a nice vibe, but after today, I won’t...
