Bravo Water Tower Theater for your hilarious parody of contemporary theater in "Jesus Christ Superstar." This outrageous treatment of "woke theater" is right on time. We've heard complaints of cultural appropriation. Well, this gaggle of clowns appropriates culture, gender, faith, race and treasured art in this send-up of Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic. I almost fell out of my seat watching female-Jesus flirt with Mary Magdalene while man-spreading her way through this 2 act farce. The zingers keep coming as most of the singing voices were cartoonish in their breadth and volume. You've done it WTT! Congratulations on holding up a sarcastic mirror to big city, modern revisionism. This Addison menagerie shines a light on today's assault on good art by enlightened folks who hide behind their "creative visions." Witnessing the abuse of the Webber/Rice classic was worth it so long as WTT got the last laugh with this excruciatingly bad...
Read moreI've visited WaterTower Theater twice now, and both times I have had nothing short of a lovely time. WaterTower is small, but mighty in terms of its capability. From little plays, to full blown productions, they seem to handle it all with ease. Buying tickets is very modern, with their site and their physical location both being capable in their own right in terms of ease and service. Cost is always reasonable, and with the level of detail they take in making sure your theater experience is on par with the Broadway productions makes it absolutely worth it. The theater is always clean, the staff are always friendly, and I always have a good time whenever I go. As well, if you're looking to spend the better part of a day around the area, the radius around WaterTower is awesome in its own right. If you find a play you like, and its hosted by WaterTower, don't even...
Read moreThis is a nice little theater, very cozy and great location in Addison. There's already lots to do and places to eat in Addison so this theater being where it's at is a plus. It was easy to locate after following the directions except we kinda go lost finding the parking area. But once we found it, we realized we just missed it as the signage was not as clear/visible after dark.
Nevertheless, a great place and I love their mission to give kids an opportunity to express themselves and give them a way to find their interests. The play we saw was well done. We were able to get front row reserved seating for $20 a seat. Beware that being upfront you are right in the line of fire with the cast. Although can be fun, it can also be intimidating, so it just depends...
