(edited review as of 7/24/2023) I had a chance to eat again at Numazu Delights and I am happy to raise my review score to 5/5. This time I was able to order the Eel(Unagi) Donburi and it was very satisfying, the eel was perfectly cooked, delicate enough for chopsticks to cut through but not mushy and had a nice texture. I also was happy to be able to order the chicken curry which was also very good, (this is not a complaint) I usually make mine a bit thicker, and spicier however, their curry was a very nice curry for anyone to try. My wife also ordered the sukiyaki again and was very impressed. I look forward to dining in again in the near future.
(short version) Overall average dining experience, my expectations may have thrown this score off, I'll be going again in the near future and hope to improve my review score.
(long version) First time dining in there, and after living in Japan for threeish years I had (maybe undeservingly) high expectations. I (and this is my fault) swore that I saw Eel sushi on their menu and an Eel bowl. I was overly excited to dine there because Eel is just amazing. Upon arrival I was a bit surprised at the menu's provided, there was no Eel to be found, additionally the curry seemed to be limited to what day it is (with the exception of the meatball curry which in all honesty I don't remember a meat ball curry on any menu in Misawa, Hachinohe, or the surrounding areas). When the waitress asked us what we would like to drink I initially asked for a coke, she looked at me as if she didn't know what that was. So I asked instead if I could have a Kirin beer, she politely and semi-nervously (from what I could tell) informed me that the only drinks they have are in the cabinet. This sadly killed all of my enthusiasm, and I ordered what my spouse ordered.
Overall the food was ok, my first time drinking barley tea was an unusual experience, not bad but not something I'd ask for again, it had a near coffee taste to it. The next time we go I will ask for oolong tea (hopefully they have it). The sukiyaki was fine my wife loved it, I felt that in the Misawa region it would have normally had a sauce, so for me it was not bad just not great either. I would say the highlight of the dining experience was when, (I assume the manager) it was time to pay the bill she asked us how the meal went. She was extremely friendly and personable (btw my wife and one of two dine in customers at the time) this gave me instant fond memories of when I lived in Japan, and the customer service you receive as you're leaving an establishment, at that moment Numazu delights felt very warm and welcoming. We both plan on going back, I will endeavor to be less critical on the next visit, and hope that I will post a higher review in the...
Read moreI have no idea how this place has a 4.8 rating without it being a complete lie or filled with bots. Seriously, there can't be this many people in an area that find anything this place has as acceptable human food. I have been to plenty of noodle shops both in the US and Japan. I can't even express how terrible our experience was. Not only from the food but from the pictures which show a completely different building that isn't as dilapidated.
As soon as I walked in their was shift in the breeze but I went with high hopes and almost asked how they made any type of homemade noodle in a non-existent kitchen. After we ordered and waited for what seemed like an eternity one of the workers went to a different room and ruffled through some stock...Yes stock, it was all pre-packaged...How do I know this. Well the sound of a microwave quickly confirmed the fact that the only thing that was a 4.8 is that the place really exists in the universe. After this I finally started to pilfer through the reviews and find what horror was coming our way. Long story short...If you have nothing better to do in your week roll your dice and have some fun! After choosing to dine in and it taking over 40 minutes while we had the worst gyoza appetizer, that even Schwan's gets right, we opted to "take it to go" as to just not walk out on the bill. If you are looking for any type of culinary experience....I can't even say the offer anything...
Read moreHidden gem in adrian with authentic Japanese food, 🍱 culture and entertainment. Also extremely affordable!! I have supported this business for years , in 3 different locations and have tried most of the menu. This review has been recently updated to currently reflect the establishment: (11-2024)
We ordered 2 ramen bowls , the first was perfect!!!!! (The blonde curly haired young woman who made it and served us was excellent at her job!! ❤️). (The 2nt ramen bowl was not cooked thoroughly and the 2nt waitress was not impressive , slammed bowl on table didn't take dirty dishes and scratched her butt when she walked away🫣🤢:( ...) we didn't eat the 2nt ramen sadly but we didn't complain because the rest of the experience was amazing!! And the rest of the staff.
We also tried sushi, a rice bowl , ceremonial matcha , 🍵, hot tea, and snacks from their concession. We left very full and happy and spent less than $50!! It's a great place to meet friends or bring a sibling. My brother loves the boba tea 🧋
We will be back again and again! And we will tell every one 🙂 PS. PLEASE bring back different...
