We were looking for a decent neopolitan style pizza, and this restaurant advertised as somewhat fitting the bill. Stone oven, ok, I'll try it. On a Sunday afternoon, 4:30 pm, I tried to call in an order for pickup. Nothing. The phone kept going to busy. Ok, fine, we'll go in and order to go (really wanted a good pizza). When I went inside, I asked them if their phone system was perhaps down? They weren't sure. Hmm. Ok, no problem, I'll place an order. Turns out, their menu prices in house are $2-3 more expensive than online. When I asked about the discrepancy, they shrugged it off and told me they had changed it a few weeks ago and hadn't really updated the online menu. Ok, whatever, I'd still like my pizza. So I ordered a margarita, a pepperoni, and their Pisano pizza. The waitress didn't volunteer a total price or when the pizzas would be done. Ok, bad day, I understand. I can ask for that information, of course! She told me in 20 minutes, never did give me a total for my order. Anyway, came back 25 minutes later, pizza was not done yet. And the restaurant had possibly 6 patrons in-house. It was pre 5:30 dinner rush. My family was pretty hungry at this point, so when the pizzas came out I checked the top two pizzas, at a glance they look fine, but didn't check the bottom box. I left the restaurant thinking, "lovely ambience in here, nice and quiet, too bad the staff is not really checked in, but all in all if this pizza is good, I'll be happy." Well, the pizza was pretty bad. I hate to say. Definitely not worth the price. I was expecting a nice pillowy high gluten crust, thin on the center and toppings to be as they advertise. To start with, the crust was not right, it was actually quite stoggy and did not have the light, thin, chewy quality to expect in a stone oven pizza. My margarita pizza did not have fresh basil on it as advertised, instead, they had sprinkled italian seasoning on top of it. The tomato's were sliced sandwich tomato's, not romas, and it was in fact pretty much a dry cheese pizza with way too much mozzarella. Very disappointing. The other pizzas were just so so as well, and certainly not worth the trouble or expense. My husband even suggested it came in second after frozen from the grocery. I called them to let them know the margarita didn't have basil on it, and in their defense, they did offer to remake it. I said thanks but no, I'm not feeling like I want to make the trip again for a second pizza. So, they eventually offered me a credit should we come in again. I'm hoping they were all having bad days, but I've worked in kitchens and on waitstaff for years and so while I can totally cut people slack, I know what an annoying demanding customer is, I wasn't pleased either with their product or service. We're not going back. Don't go if you're expecting a...
Read moreAwesome meal!!! Awesome desserrt!!! Awesome atmosphere!!! Awesome service!!! Awesome waiter-Justin!!! My husband is Italian, so we know authentic Italian flavors. With that being said, we are so happy to have found this wonderful quaint restaurant, that is our new favorite place in town! I can't say enough about this wonderful experience! Our meal started with a beautiful platter of bruschetta cheese bread. My husband ordered the chicken Marsala. His meal came with 2 sides, roasted potatoes and sauteed zucchini and yellow squash. The chicken was cooked to perfection and I couldn't believe the beautiful paired flavors of fresh herbs and seasonings on the chicken and sides!! I ordered the cheese ravioli with the blush sauce. The pasta was delicate and tender and the sauce was silky and delicious with a hint of sweetness. We ended the meal with a cannoli (of course). We ordered an original and a chocolate cannoli and we shared them. My husband's family has a wonderful cannoli recipe. All the women get together and make these cannolis for the rest of the family around the holidays (as it takes all day to make). So it's a, once a year, treat that we all look forward to. My husband said, outside of his family's recipe, he's never tasted a better cannoli than this!! We were absolutely delighted and satisfied with our experience!! We will definitely be back very soon. Thank you, Sauce, and Justin, for making our evening a memory we'll...
Read moreThis was our first time at Sauce. The Mediterranean Chopped Salad was delicious. The veggie pizza had fresh vegetables and basil, but there was no discernible pizza sauce (so we don't know if the famous marinara sauce is any good), not enough cheese, and the vegetables were sparing rather than generous. The service was friendly, but a major error was that our salad was brought out at the same time as our pizza. As a former dining room and nightclub manager, the salad should be brought out first, and the pizza after the salad is finished. I have never known an Italian restaurant to serve a salad or appetizer at the same time as the main course. We felt rushed. We sat outside (the outdoor seating area is quite nice). From my seat I could see the cobwebs on the uncleaned window sills. These should be wiped clean each evening. Also, it was a Tuesday evening, the restaurant wasn't too busy, and no manager made their way around to check on tables and say hello to guests. This is sort of an unwritten rule at good upscale restaurants. Finally, an older couple was seated next to us and told by the hostess, "Somebody will be by as soon as we figure out who will be serving you " You don't ever announce your disorganization to customers. The only proper thing to say is "Your server is (name) and will be with you shortly." This restaurant has the potential to be five stars but was only three to three and a half stars on...
