Was in Augusta on Saturday and saw that the Gary's Hamburgers was quite busy. We've never been but my husband is always on the hunt for the best hamburger and when a place has "hamburgers" in their name that should be what they do the best so we decided to try it out. Pros: The place was clean and the staff was super friendly. You could tell it was a locals place where they probably have a lot of repeat customers who get their go-to items. A lot of the reviews were not for the burgers and the outside signs referenced breakfast and biscuits, etc. The folks inside eating seemed to know what they wanted and were enjoying what they had. Cons: The hamburger combo was about $9.50. It was fine but similar to what you would get at a school cafeteria, e.g. frozen burger patties. There was nothing special about the burgers, fries or onion rings that would put Gary's on my list of go-to places for a burger fix.

11/12/23- Well.i returned for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed. THE STAFF( ALL ladies) were working like grandma's in the kitchen. My breakfast was served with soo much love. It was uhhm uhmm good. So I had to change my stars. 1o/ 3/22 I really wanted to like it. Maybe my expectations were too high. I assumed it was a great mom and pop old fashioned handmade burger but it taste exactly like Wendy's may have stolen their exact recipe. My fries and burger were made fresh but I could only take a few bites. I love food. Maybe the breakfast is better. The window clerk was very nice.

We stop here often. It has been a while as we were on a 16,000 mile, 5 month rv vacation to Canada, Alaska, and northern and eastern US. As we sat in the truck, I told my wife, now that's a real hamburger. They have a great selection - all real good food - and served with a pleasant smile. We love Gary's.

I don't even like writing reviews but my experience was so horrible that I have to write a review and will never be going back as long as they have the same manager. I love and brag about Gary's chicken biscuits and have been going for a long time. This review is not about the food, but the customer service. The manager was so rude and disrespectful and would not just admit that she messed up by throwing away the biscuits (which I saw with my own eyes) before fulfilling all the breakfast orders. I waited patiently for at least 20 mins watching several people that ordered after me get their order and then was offered a bun. When I said I didn't want a bun, I was told that they had to fulfill orders before me which was a lie and also knowing the biscuits had gotten thrown away. When the employee who took my order tried explaining that I had been there for a while, she still didn't want to listen and tried to offer me a biscuit from an order that had been sitting there leftover. I agreed but said can I get my money back too and was told no and that it was my fault for refusing a bun. I explained that all she had to do was just admit that she messed up and was wrong instead of trying to justify a simple mistake, but she continued to argue with me. So, I got my money back and will never be going back. Its sad because Gary's breakfast is one of my favorites and I was really looking forward to it...

I have driven by this place for years, and never stopped in. Went to p/u lunch for some co-workers is what finally made me stop in and try them. I read various reviews and some were not so good (to say the least). The outside tables are a good idea when it is warmer because the inside seemed a little small and cramped. The people were friendly and the service was pretty quick. I called our order in 3 burgers, chicken sandwich, and large fry and onion ring as I was leaving University Hospital and I only had to wait to get to the counter when I got there, the food was being bagged up ad I walked in. The only complaint/down point was they said were out of dessert (I had a pregnant co-worker I was picking up for, so dessert WAS important!). Then they said they had been out of dessert for 2 or 3 days. Hmmmm..... None was made or what? Otherwise, the food was what it was supposed to be. Bacon was good and crispy on the burger and the grilled chicken was a good size piece too. Not my favorite place, but a...

First time to Gary's.

The positives: Super friendly staff (5 stars). We got there before lunch time, but they still didn't mind making us a couple of burgers.

We drove by and saw a full parking lot as well as a full drive through,.. and assumed it was a popular local joint. Which says a lot about this place.

Food was warm and again so was the staff! Sweet Tea was good.

The negatives: Unfortunately the Burgers, Fries and Onion Rings were not very good (2 stars). The food quality was similar to what you would expect from a Public School Cafeteria. Unfortunately what we got wasn't good quality nor did it taste good.

I'd consider going back to try their Biscuits. They looked good and a lot of people in the restaurant were eating and enjoying them. But as far as lunch their I have to pass going forward.

Burger Recommendation Near Gary's: Two decent/good burger places near this Gary's location. Sno-Cap and Farmhaus Burger. Both are higher quality and better...
